I have wanted a Kimber TLE/RL II or Kimber SIS/RL for quite some time now.  The problem is, I am a newly wed college student with little funds.    I have a Romanian AK-47, 8 magazines (30 and 40 rounders) and about 750 rounds of 7.62x39. I figure I can sell all that and be on my way to get a Kimber.  Although I really like the AK, and i think every family should have one (along with an M4 of course), I dont really use it.  So my question is whether or not I should Keep the AK because it is a cool and classic gun, or sell the AK and get a Kimber because it is a very nice hand gun and I don't yet have a .45 AUTO.  I am torn right now so lets see if ARFCOM can help my decision.

EDIT:
Guns i have
- Glock 19
- Remington 700 PSS .308 w/ Leupold Mark 4
- Bushmaster M4
- Ruger MK III .22LR
- Ruger 10/22 (first gun)
- Romanian AK-47
- Remington 700 Semi Auto Shotty

I vote no, although I'm curious what other firearms you have.

If the AK was your first, never sell your first gun.  You'll spend the rest of your life kicking yourself over it.

Aks are relatively cheap, shoot cheap ammo reliably, and don't seem to lose their value. I'd say keep the AK and save up for your other toy.

+1

My first was an AK, and no matter what makes it on the shopping list I don't think I'll ever sell it.

I sold mine and don't really miss it. It was just another gun to feed and buy mags/accessories for. Then again, I don't shoot much of any rifle these days. Almost all my shooting is pistols.

I was in the sam boat, traded mine for a nice Swede M96, love the Mauser, but regret trading off the AK

Trade a semi-auto battle implement before the election?

Just say no!

An AK will be worth more in the future. 1911s are low cap by nature and probably will be around for a long time to come. The first things to be banned will be ARs and AKs.

Keep it.  Everyone needs an AK, including you.  If you get rid of it, you'll
only regret it later on.

Save up your money and get a 1911 when you got the cash.  They're not
going anywhere anytime soon.

Easy:  a Kimber is not a high capacity weapon (less than 10 rounds).

An AK47 is (30 round mag)

If Obamanation gets elected and goes after another AWB, you won't be able to buy another AK47 like the one you have now and won't be able to get high-cap mags unless you pay out the nose for them.

Keep the AK, and save up money for the Kimber.

Sure thing, just don't want you going off half cocked and regretting something later on

The AK-47 will be infinitely more valuable to you than a Kimber if SHTF (riots, looting, EMP, etc)

I know I'm selling mine. (I should've never traded my SKS's for the damn thing)!

Plus, I'm using the "proceeds" to go toward a kick-ass NV set-up!

I believe that will prove to be a whole lot more useful, someday, than an AK. And mine's a sweet one, too - with around 5,000 rd's to go with it!

I live in Utah and it is legal to do a firearm sale from civilian to civilian without any background check.  But to be safe, I make sure they are of legal age, sign a bill of sale and record personal info such as DL# etc.

The single stack 1911s arent going anywhere soon...............the AKs might.

At the first real sign of Obamasama getting in, the demand on the AKs will rise, and thus ,so will the prices.

Save your $$$.

The concept of "selling a gun" is foreign to many of us.

But, that being said, if you can't afford both, trade into a semi-auto rifle like an AR or something similar for home/neighborhood defense.
