 Ohio High School Porn Homework Canceled Ohio High Schoolers' Porn Assignment Canceled After Parents Complain BROOKLYN, Ohio Jan 13, 2006 — A high school research assignment on Internet pornography was canceled after parents in this Cleveland suburb complained. Superintendent Jeff Lampert said that although the teacher's apparent goal to discuss the harmful effects of pornography was well-intentioned, he agreed with parents that the assignment was inappropriate for 14- and 15-year-old freshmen at Brooklyn High. The assignment asked students to research pornography on the Internet and list eight facts about pornography. Students also were asked to write their personal views of pornography and any experience they had with it. Lampert said he doubted the teacher, Scott Gioia, would face any punishment. Gioia teaches health and physical education and has been at the school for about five years. Lampert said he started getting calls Wednesday and met with the principal and Gioia. They decided that day to drop the project. "We value the partnership we have" with the community, Lampert said. "We take that very seriously." There was no phone listing under Gioia's name in the Cleveland area. Last fall, controversy over questionable work-study credits given to a member of the football team led the team to forfeit four wins the team's only victories of the season and the first in two years. I hate to say this but this lesson if done in the right envrironment would be helpful for that age group.
Too many kids spend way too much time on the internet looking at porn instead of doing something productive. |

There were some pretty f*cked up questions on this homework including asking the students to go on the internet and find out something like eight facts about the porn industry and also to describe their experiences with porn and if those experiences were good or bad. Not exactly appropriate for 9th graders. I hope there was some educational value in this and not just for the teacher to get his jollies reading about his students' experiences with porn...

It seems that when the male students were asked to turn in thier reports, they were unable to comply. There was a strange outbreak of wrist strains rendering them unable to write...

If you do a search for "cleaning products" half of your responses will probably be hard core porn.
How can you search for hard core porn facts and not find porn? It might be a good libary assignment, to find periodical articles on pornography. Anyone remember libarys? I don't think it is a good subject for the internet. |

I personally feel that pornography is degrading to women, and I think that the teacher did the wrong thing.
And what does pornography have to do with health class anyway? |

I remember when I was in 8th grade, we had a lesbian health teacher. She was also the girl's gym teacher. Pretty subtle, but this was back in the early 80s.
Anyway.... I distinctly remember when we were studying drug use in health class, and she told us that certain drugs like weed enhance sexual response. Of course, we all had to go score some doobs and try it.
