Not sure why there isn't a thread yet on this but season premiere of Westworld on HBO is Sunday 10/2. Anyone excited?

It looks interesting. I'm hopeful it's not filled with SJW or "I hate whitey" propoganda seeing how it's on HBO.
It has several big actors in it. |

I liked the original, hopefully this new iteration is watchable.

It stands up very well for being a relatively minor Creighton product. Even his shittiest works are better than what Hollywood is coming up with these days. |

Never heard of it, but will be giving it a try. They say it's the "new Game of Thrones."

I just watched the original a week ago. I think Ed Harris is a good choice for the Gunslinger.

I have a terrible suspicion it's going to be like the remake a few years back of The Prisoner. Enough like the original so they can use the name, but other than that totally different and disappointing.
Lead character is one of the fucking McPoyle brothers. FUuuuuuuuuuu... |
|
i've been looking forward to it.
gonna watch it tonight after work. |

I only heard about this show a couple of days. I'm looking forward to it.

I liked the original as a kid in the 70s. I will watch the HBO series tonight.

Thanks for the heads up, put it on Record. HBO has good series and theres great actors in it.

Anybody watching? Interesting so far.
Anyone catch what the player piano in the saloon plays? |
|
That was pretty good. Might be a winner if they can keep it going.
|
|
Half way decent, can't believe they actually worked The Stones "Paint it Black" into the soundtrack..
ETA: Beat. |

I'll watch it tonight and catch Fear The Walking Dead later.

Anyone find the sub basement lvl interesting? Looked like an old abandoned mall or airport. Had an escalator and old art statues. Be interested what the current world looks like.

I'm enjoying it but it seems to be more of a copy of the recent movie Vice, than a remake of the original Westworld starring Yul Brenner.

It's the first show in a series.
Setup takes time. Character development takes time. HBO knows this. When your interest starts to flag, you'll see boobs. As the series progresses, you will see less boob, more man junk. The opening scene showed a naked Evan Rachel Wood for piss sakes. It's not porn, it's HBO. EDIT- ERW has never been shy about showing her body, unlike a certain other blond HBO starlet. I don't think we'll see a renovation of the nudity contract from her. |

Quoted: So far so good. I have lots of questions already. View Quote Guess they really did shoot this season with a goal to have it extend beyond just one season. So many layers in just the first episode. HBO delivers as always. |

Good acting.
The robots are becoming aware and more human with every software update. I can't imagine that they can do much with that simple plot that has already been done a hundred times before. |
|
The gunfight scene with the man in black would suggest he is not a host since he cant die? Or he defeated the programming ?

View Quote This series has supposedly been in the works since 2014 and Vice has one of the lowest Rotten Tomatoes scores ever, so either way Jonathan Nolan will do a better job with the subject matter. |
