I know this is a duplicate of a post I put in Brothers of the Shield but I want it here for a while to get a little more exposure. One officer dead, one seriously injured. Chris Betts leaves behind his wife and 7 week old son. Jamie Weinmann is expected to recover and wants to return to duty. Both are ex Army MP's. Donations for both can be made at any Bank of America branch. www.eastpointpolice.org www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/metro/atlanta/1202/23officers.html Chris was a fine officer and I'm honored to have served beside him. Rest In Peace, Brother

That is tragic beyond words. My prayers to the families affected by these losses. All this had to happen probably because some drunk drug-infested piece of sh*t just had to walk along a damn highway. Why people's lives have to be destroyed by low-lifes like this, I will never understand. [:(]

This is awful. Even though danger is inherent in the job, it doesn't help to make any sense of it. Prayers sent.

Did we read the same article? I see nothing in the linked article about ANY chemical impairment of the person involved in the original scuffle..... Scott

DScottHewitt Sorry, man. It was just an emotional outburst due to the rage I felt when I read it. If my comments were ill-advised, I apologize. IM me if you have further. This is a terrible tragedy, one that should not of happened, that deeply sickens me.

Our hearts break with yours. I work for Norcross PD and we came close to losing one of ours this year when one of our Corporal's was shot in the head. We have a couple of guys from Eastpoint who now work for us as a matter of fact and I am sure that they knew Chris. Rest in Peace.

My condolences. It is sad that all of the wrong circumstances came together all at the wrong time.

I'm very sorry for your loss, GAcop. My prayers will go out for the man's family and friends, and for the full recovery of the other officer.

Asking for a link to the article with further information is "debating" something? Scott
