a little background info.....

I was introduced to a girl last week by another woman friend. The girl's name was "Harvest" and evidently it IS her legal first name. Woman 1 THEN asks as woman 2 walks away "wouldnt you like to harvest THAT patch" to which i almost fell off my barstool from laughing.....anyway.....

what are some of the strangest names youve run across??

My great grandma was named Jonathan. Her mother thought is was a great name so she used it for the next born child, regardless of the sex of the child.

Great grandma went by Betty her whole life, and no one ever said the J word in front of her.

I went to the movies a few years ago. The young man who took our tickets as we entered had a name tag that said LAVORIS.

I now realize that there are people with that name... but previously the only time I'd heard Lavoris used was as the name of a mouthwash.

There was a guy that came into our store often named Kermit. Can't remember his last name.... but he wasn't quite 'all there.'

Knew a girl named Fallon once. Since then I have heard it a couple more times, but I always thought it was kinda weird. There is a po-dunk city about an hour and a half from here named Fallon. Maybe that's why.

She was hot!

I had a great grandmother named Orpha. Have a lady friend named Augusta....we call her Gus.....well, I call her Gussie M......which means precisely nothing, I just make up names for people cuz I am always so friggin' bored.

Coolest name I have ever heard was from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, when I was a kid: Violet Bartholamew. That is a cool name. So was Veruca Salt. The guy that wrote that had a pretty cool way with names.

Hell my family was ate up with old names...

My GGparents were named Vernon & Flora

Names of a few of their children: Doyle, Lendoyce, Hazel

I had a Uncle "Tolly" and a Aunt Ollie Bea ( not sure how it was spelled...

My wife's GGrandfather was a federal law enforcement agent and was always out and about
tending to his duties. When his wife gave birth he was not there but did show up right
after and he was told it was a boy. He asked his wife, "Well, what did you name it ?"

A proud smile came over her face and she said, "I named him after you, Marshal Hurley Parker!"

He said, "WHAT??! Damn woman thats my title NOT my name, its my TITLE !!. I'm a US Marshall !!!

She thought it was his first name because all she had ever heard people call him
was "Marshall" or Marshall Parker or whenever he was introduced Marshal Hurley Parker...

damn true story.... and they never changed the name and the son went by the name Marshal.

LB

PS I named my daughter Agnes

I get lots of internet sales leads from people looking to buy cars in the 'hood. I get loads of LaQuisa this and Marquita that... even seen a Tequila or two as previously mentioned. I made an off-handed joke to my co-workers that it wouldn't be long before I saw someone named Latrina.

And then a few weeks later, I got a sales lead from Latrina.

Edit: We also have a Will Robinson on our staff, and he's young enough to have been born after the Lost in Space series.

When I was at Hill AFB, there really was a Col. Dick, I'd always look at that and think what a hell the other pilots probably gave him when he was a major!

Ronald Reamer. The guy is a salesman who peddles aerospace seals. I've told Ron that if he can't make it selling seals, he can always work porno.

How about mine? I go by my middle name, which is an old family name. It's Sherrill, prononuced (Sure-ull). Dad and Grandpa had it, also. Name was too hard for my brother to pronounce when he was little, thus leading to "Bub", which led to my username. If the wife and I ever have a boy, he'll be Sherrill IV.

To those of you in OH, take a look at the State Highway Patrol Trooper's names sometime in the paper. Here in Columbiana County, it seems that most, if not all, the Troopers have really weird last names. I won't list any here, but take a look sometime. Just don't ask me how to pronounce some of them!

Bub
