A friend pointed that same thing out to me the other day.

It was before my time, born in '84, but he said the media said Carter had the edge the whole way through.

I just hope history repeats itself.

We did this thread a week or two ago:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1918188_.html

It comes down to whether you want to believe one polling series or the average of multiple polling series, and whether you want to believe that the 1980 election has any bearing on another election a generation later.

Everyone is going to believe whatever they want to believe and nothing is illuminated.

You'll know for sure in 16 days, but right now the best available data shows massive electoral defeat. You'd best prepare for that while taking whatever actions you deem necessary to avoid it.

I hope Trump wins and will vote for him as anyone interested in keeping 2nd Amendment rights should do.

The college campuses, the media, the government, school systems, and churches were intentionally infiltrated by the radical left, especially in the early 20th Century.  My grand parents watched it happen and told us the story, and it is documented now if anyone care to inquire.  As such the media has always leaned to the left ever since I can remember.   I have seen data that they are 75% registered Democrats.  A recent poll said that vast majority of political donations from media companies, like 24:1 or some such lop sided proportion, were to Democratic candidates.

Most people become politically aware in their late teens. I was bouncing around at 8 years old like I had just gotten the best christmas present ever in 80 when Ronald won.

There was much more emphasis on international stuff.  Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.  Iran holding US hostages.

TV/Radio - Most people got their news thru TV/Radio.  Every night, it was "America held hostage - day #123"

Print - More details were available from newspapers or news/financial magazines.

Most newspaper editorials were somewhat biased towards Carter.

Isn't this the truth, but if he does some how pull it off let us hope he continues not being Reagan because that would
mean the banning of guns, more amnesty, and massive debt.

They were leftists, but usually pretended to be "fair and balanced".

Since the days of Slick Willie, they stopped pretending.

Now, The mask and the gloves, are completely off.     It's different.

There was similar criticism of Reagan back in 1980.

They said he was too old, divorced man couldn't be president, an actor would make a lousy president, someone that used to be a Democrat to Republican couldn't be president...

This election is more like Kennedy vs Nixon and depending on how much history you've read and/or believe, Kennedy actually stole the election, Nixon really did win. In the end it mattered not as both were friends and shared the same play book, when Nixon was busted his statement he stood by was "I never did anything Jack didn't do "first").

This was the electoral map in 1980 election.

Do ANY of you really think that states like California, NY, NJ, MA, MN, etc are going to go red this time?  Do any of you think Trump has 1/10 the charisma of Reagan ?

At the moment, this is the predicted electoral map for the 2016 election.

Guys, if Trump wins this election, it will be a miracle.  And there's ZERO chance he wins by a landslide.

Bullshit, the current electoral map has 0 on both sides..the votes are not yet cast..not one single person on this forum, nor a single person on this entire damn planet knows how this is going to turn out, your best guess is no better than anyone elses guess...I just do not understand why some of you folks just bleed defeatism all the time, maybe you should consider turning the news stations off until this is over..

My Dad (75)told me the everyone knew Reagan was going to win because they hated Carter for the Iran and gas crisis.

He did say everyone was worried Reagan was going to start WW3 if elected.

Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Plus there was one and only one televised debate within the week of the election wherein Reagan slayed.

Carter lost the election when gas lines were longer than the lines at a free strip tease joint. Carter's genius address to the public during the oil crisis during the winter was to put on a fucking sweater and turn the heat down. Really how in the hell can anyone relate this election to 1980. Reagan was from Cali, friends with Walt Disney and a western movie badass. It's okay to relate Obama to Carter but it is not okay to relate Trump to the man that hung with the Duke or Dirty Harry.
