This is a week long story, his legacy is already known and there is no re-election for him.
I’ll close Gitmo. I’ll end the wars in Afgh and Iraq. I’ll have the most transparent Admin ever. I won’t accept money from special interest groups. I’ll improve our image abroad. 2008 Senator Barack Obama has said that Osama bin Laden should be brought to justice in a way that would prevent the terrorist leader becoming a martyr. Seeking to portray himself as tough enough to be commander-in-chief, the Democratic presidential candidate warned that there was an executive order dating back to Bill Clinton's presidency that allowed the CIA to kill bin Laden if capture was not an option. "What would be important would be for us to do it in a way that allows the entire world to understand the murderous acts that he's engaged in and not to make him into a martyr, and to assure that the United States government is abiding by basic conventions that would strengthen our hand in the broader battle against terrorism," he said. |

It wasn't an assassination mission. But when the guy is holding an assault rifle and firing it at you, flex-cuffs probably aren't going to be needed. |

There's one campaign promise he did keep...he has raised energy costs.

This guys only achievement is picking March Madness brackets. Its sad that some people don't see this.

Elections are won by appealing to moderates and "the middle."
The only folks disappointed in his lack of delivery on election promises are the folks "further Left than just center-Left." Make no mistake about it; Obama being in charge while OBL is whacked is big for him. - BG |
|
Bush had a 90% approval rating 2 years before he squeeked by Kerry..things change but the economy is not. This will be a mear echo next year. You cannot pull rabbits out of a failed policy hat..Obama has no idea what he is doing and people know it.

Well, he did the right thing in the end. Osama Bin Laden is dead and Obama made key decisions which led to that result.
I still think that he's a terrible president, but I am willing to give credit where credit is due. |

The country is on the verge of bankruptcy, government unions are free to pillage at will, and somebody gives a shit about the death of some over the hill third world hillbilly terrorist? Fuck.

Hey, Hey, Hey, Obama has kept one of his promises. The cost of energy has necessarily skyrocketed since he was elected. Shows no sign of slowing.

I can't wait for the constant flood of campaign commercials that use Obama's own words against him. John Kerry made only a couple stupid statements that were used to derail him, Obama is a contradiction gold mine!!!! It's up to the Republican party to blow it.

Well, he instructed the head of the CIA to make finding Osama Bin Laden and top priority, and they found him. He headed five meetings where they discussed the intel, and when Obama was satisfied that this was Osama Bin Laden he told them to go and kill him. They went and they killed him. Obama deserves that much credit. Denying it puts you on par with the lefties who belittled Bush's accomplishment in the GWOT. |

For those of us who watched the reports of the towers falling, the Pentagon getting hit, and Flight 93's heroic sacrifice, it does matter. Not to mention all the other blows against us and our interests connected to the bastard. But I agree that we also have other matters to keep an eye on, as well. |

And, regarding the latest kinetic military action used day in day out in Libya:
"The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation. As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action." -Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama, aka Liar |

It's just that at this point, his death is not going to accomplish much for America because it's being used as a campaign tool by the Obama. |

Then I think the Democrats will scream that the Republicans are being mean spirited and racist, so the Republican's will tone it down to "play nice". Meanwhile the Democrats will be digging up every piece of dirt on the Republican candidate, his wife, and his children. I really hope a Republican candidate emerges that is strong, confident, agressive, has a spine, and has a pair of balls. |

Obama did exactly what he HAD to do, but saying he made an extra effort or even changed any policy toward Bin Laden is a stretch, IMO. He gets credit for not changing the existing policy, until I see otherwise. This was the easiest decision that guy has had to make as President. |

Obama made key decisions
Do tell? Go do it, is a key decision? The only credit he gets is for doing his job...nothing more. He did not "direct" anything, he's never been in the military and has no idea on how operations are done. None. It would be the same as me or you being President...just go do it, is about as key as it gets. He is trying to get mileage out of this. The economy is a dinosaur and this is a rat problem that got solved by our military and intelligence community. Obama has screwed this nation's economy, gas and employment, they are all equal dinosaurs for him that cannot be ignore and this event is NOT a campaign issue. WHats he gonna say 18 months from now? "Well, yeah, gas is $5 a gallon but I directed the killing of Osama? No...this is nothing more than a 30 second news blip on his way out of office. |

Thanks for posting the thread. The hilited item in red above has been bothering me since I learned that the start of the intel for this mission was obtained from a guy at Gitmo. |

If he had closed GITMO, like he promised he would while campaigning, like he promised he would immediately after taking office, like he ordered be done with his very first Executive Order as President... we would have never found Bin Laden. It was a GITMO detainee who gave up the nickname of Bin Laden's courier, who we were then able to find and track and who led us to Bin Laden's mansion in Pakistan. It was because of George W. Bush that we have GITMO and it was because of George W. Bush that we were able to extract information from captured fighters. |

He'll get reelected. Obama basically sacrificed a democrat Congress in the midterms for the sake of intelligence gathering. Obama said and it has been reported the critical information was known in August of 2010. Rather than act on the intelligence and capture of kill Bin Laden just before the Congressional Midterms, Obama took the high road and used the opportunity to gather more information about OBL while they prepared over the next 9 months to go in and get OBL. I mean they had him cornered. When had OBL ever slipped from their grasp?
Obama didn't have to lose Congress, but he did just so just so more intelligence could be gathered on a man with no telephone or internet. Truth. |

Everything he does is socialism, this means nothing concerning his domestic policies which will get him booted or re-elected. Truth. |

I'd not put a money bet on this half wit getting reelected. Sadly, half the country will vote for whatever (D) is put in front of them. His only policy successes ensure more gov't dependent drone voters going his way.
