• Eliminate restrictions that force the ATF to authorize importation of dangerous
weapons simply because of their age: ATF is required to authorize the importation of
certain “curio or relic” firearms, and outdated regulations include all firearms manufactured more
than 50 years ago in the definition of “curio or relic.” But today, firearms manufactured more than
50 years ago include large numbers of semiautomatic military-surplus rifles, some of which are
easily convertible into machine guns or otherwise appealing for use in crime. Congress should
get rid of restrictions that prevent ATF from changing this definition, enabling ATF to ensure
that firearms imported as curios or relics are actually of interest as collectibles, rather than letting
these rules be used as a way to acquire fully functional and powerful military weapons.

When the government assumes the power to decide what I find interesting, the things I would find interesting would be the downfall of said government.

I also tend to lose interest whenever I hear the phrase 'easily converted into a machine gun'

I am so sick of elected officials deciding how I should live my life..

Dana Perino was on Fox News tonight and said that there's basically no chance anything gets through Congress.  The House doesn't want to even touch it, and so they've kicked it to the Senate to introduce and pass something and both Reid and McConnell have said it's a nonstarter.  Obama may have been reelected, but he has virtually NO political capital in Washington.  Anybody right of extreme left is running away from him because of the approaching midterms.

The utter ignorance and complete lack of even a shread of common sense or decency of these people astounds me. All in the name of trying to stamp out something that they personally don't like along with their blind fear of something they don't understand combined with their determination to disarm anyone that could stand in the way of what they see as "progress" makes them (to me ) some of the most dangerous human beings that have ever walked this earth.

It happened in Germany in 1933. Unless we ALL stand together it may happen here.............................

You need to rework it as an open bolt action. Easy peasy. Then you just file the detonator igniter.

5 minutes.

You think that will make the spring pull lighter on the cocker on back of the bolt and faster?

That may be the ticket....if I can get it to go back and forth really fast......I can beat the detonator into submission!!

One brave and determined man with a Mosin Nagant could kill one gun grabbing tyrant pretty easy if he was willing to trade his life for that of the tyrant. $100 rifle and a $0.20 surplus bullet and you have a single dead gun grabber. How many of them are there again?

Make no mistake. They see all firearms as a threat. They will never stop with just semi-autos.

I guess they're looking at SVT-40s, Hakims, Rashids, Ljungman AG-42s, etc.  Some have full auto variants, and could possibly be converted, because criminal gang-bangers get C&R licenses, and learn all the technical shit to convert a 12 pound 50" rifle with a 10 round magazine to full auto so they can shoot up a school.
