OCALA, Fla. -- The FBI is reportedly investigating a mistaken police raid on an Ocala family that led to the pepper spraying of a 74-year-old grandmother, according to Local 6 News.
Local 6 News reported that three police officers burst into the home March 29 without a search warrant. They later said they made a mistake.
However, during the raid, resident Michael Rush, his uncle and his 74-year-old grandmother were pepper-sprayed and arrested during a scuffle.
The Rushes claim they were only protecting their home. But the State Attorney's office has refused to drop charges, saying the grandmother tried to grab an officer's gun during the raid.
Authorities said that the officers went to Rush's home to question him about a shooting a few days earlier.
Police told a local radio station they have no comment on the FBI investigation into possible civil rights violations.
