So far I've survived being shot at in a plane, 15 mortar attacks (some damn close), 1 car bomb, 8 rock chucking incidents, and attacked by dogs.

So I'm driving around by one of our entrance points today and the tie-rod on my Polaris UTV breaks and I slam head on into a wall. Sumabitch. Every freaking muscle in my body hurts. I got a knot on my shin the size of the hope diamond and it feels like someone beat me with a baseball bat.

Hell, I just got back from R&R 4 days ago. This is going to be a long tour if this sh*it keeps happening to me.

How was your day?

First off, thanks for your service. I can related to your bad day. Although I'm not putting my life on the line, I am fighting for it (chemo).

May god protect you and all others fighting to keep us safe. You will be in my prayers.

Let's see:
I saw a plane today.
I bit my tongue, which I guess is a molar attack, not a mortar attack.
I saw a car that I would describe as a bomb today.
I've listened to at least 8 rock-and-roll songs today.
My dog almost bit my pecker while I was getting out of the shower today.
I saw Polaris (the north star) last night.

I think, maybe, that you've got it tougher.

Thanks very much for your ongoing sacrifice, commitment and patriotism in the war on terror. You, sir, are doing us all proud! Get better and be safe, even on base!

Does that count as enemy combatant kills?
Let God sort them out.

Hey, they were Iraqi attack dogs. I'd put notches in my stock but I don't want to damage my CavArms stock.

Thanks for the prayers all. It's probably what saved my butt when I hit the wall.

Right now the natives are on their PA systems singing their asses off. Sounds like a war dance going on outside the gate. Damn, where's my gun, where's my helmet, where's my NVGs.

Today was a light day for us.. Up at 06:30, grabbed a rare breakfast, was at the motor pool by 7:30. The number 1 right roadwheel arm had broken a bearing and needed replacing. Three of the four tanks needed to break track, the 3 tank needed to break both.

I left by 11:30 or so, had to go to battalion and drop off tomorrow's mission packet.

After that, it was pretty light. I'm sure things will get busier again this week, we have the evening patrols which can be exciting enough. (Three firefights in one week last time)

TangoC and any others in the sandbox,

Are our war efforts working at all?

If we believe what we hear on the news here- the place is coming apart at the seams. I find that very hard to believe, since if you see a reporter posting his/her story on TV, Bahgdad is in the background, people going about their business, and looks like normal day. (other than the occasional dude ramming a wall on his ATV)

I know there are the problem people/areas, but overall, are we winning this fucker, and is it getting better?

Thanks guys, I hope you know how much your work means to us.

Redfisher.

This was back in Febuary when I flew in on advance party. I don't know what they used but the wings on the C-130 went almost vertical then we did a combat dive and slammed on the deck so hard, I thought the landing gear was going to collapse. I saw flares from the C-130 shoot past my window when we were side ways.

Well gents, I'm getting stiffer as I sit here so I'm going to slam a bottle or ranger candy (800mg Motrin) and go to bed.

Later.

Rocket 2 November, OUT.
