Ya- there's only one 40mm thing I've ever heard of and it's a grenade.

There was a shot containing shell for 40mm. IIRC it was used in Vietnam to give the guys carrying m79's the option of a close range anti-personel round.

I have just unwrapped my May 2001 issue of "Small Arms Review" and what do I find....?
An article on 40mm grenades. A centerfold no less. Anyone who likes this kind of stuff should spend $5.00 and take a look, there are forty(40)different rounds shown.
