AR-15 marked rifles will be available (fairly) cheap after sept 13th......
LEO marked ones. |
Are the LE ones still marked AR15? I never really looked. |
i believe so. ANYONE HAVE PICS? |
I'll look at my next batch when they get here. Also wondering if any dealer is actually gonna sell "restricted" rifles without a letterhead. I know technically no law will exist but I know I don't want to test the waters. Gonna be interesting to see who is the first guy to blow out restricted marked rifles and mags to civies and what official reaction to it is. |

... I plan on converting my SP1 into it's original (retro) configuration after the sunset
Damn CT AWB.... No "AR-15" marked anything for me.... ever. Pre-bans cant even be transfered... they have to be non-Colt.
Can't wait to see if people in free states get actual AR-15s. - BUCC_Guy |
Colt won't make them for civies. After 1989 all rifles were marked Colt Sporter. |
yea I'm trying to convince some local dealers to order me a LE Colt after the sunset...... thing is, I AM LE, but I work for the most liberal city in the country, so no way am I getting any type of letterhead. Me to gun shop guy: "hey after the ban ends can you order me a LE Colt AR15?" gun shop guy: "no" me: "I'm a cop." gun shop guy: "hmmmmm. dunno..... the ban is actually not ending here tho" me: "true, but, in NY state law police officers are specifically exempted from all weapons laws" gun shop guy: "hmm dunno" I've heard of a few dealers in other states who have said they WILL be selling LE rifles to civilians tho. There is no law, so theres no basis for any official reation. That doesnt mean they wont try tho |

I thought that machine guns were illegal to buy.
Now you are saying that assault rifles are going to flood the streets again? |
Uzi's and AK47s will be growing on trees. |
What we need is for a manufacturer to come out with a lower marked simply Bullet Hose.
(Just in case...Copyright 08.23.04 ) |

I planted my UZI and AK trees earlier last year, I also had a Tec9 tree but the frost killed it |

I'm not too sure about this. Colt is not the same company it was back 15 years ago. I wouldn't want to bet anything on what Colt might or might not do. They are under new ownership and new management. More importantly, they have written off any plans to sell in California, which was a major factor for the changes in 1989. Lets not forget how eager Colt has seemed of late. The MT6400C is proof that Colt wants to accomodate the public. The MT6400C is the least PC rifle Colt has made in 10 years, and only a few AWB provions away from being what we all want. Even the AR15 nomenclature is used in the CR6724s name. This has also been true in other aspects of Colt's lineup. Who'd have thought they'd have ever gotten the corporate lawyers to OK the production of Series 70 style pistols again? Even the CCO was a direct response to customer demand. So, I'm hoping for the best from Colt. I'm hoping I'm not going to be disappointed. |

um... who cares? They're the exact same gun.
If having LEO marked equiptment makes it worth more, I'm going to mark LEO in pen on all my guns. |
For the new guy, the above AR-15 marked rifles are not LE marked. |
Correct, but the sentiment remains.
Your guns are not worth more because of what is written on them. |
I believe my issued Colt is marked AR15......
and the writing will make a difference. Ask those in the communist and semi-commie states..... |
There's one in EE right now for the "standard preban price" circa 3 years ago...
Aphids killed off my whole Sig 550 and M60 crop this year....Little fuckers. S.O. |

I'll be impressed when I see one that says "AR15" and doesn't have that god-aweful large-hole screw in front of it.
I'll give ya $100 for it. |
colt? who cares what the receiver says? that's gay.
i shoot them, not wax them. i stamped one of the machineguns: "safe", "semi" and "oh wow". you ain't gonna be getting one of them anytime soon, either. should i charge $10k extra for it? |

M-4 Carbine Law enforcement/Military Restricted |
Actually they very much would be. |
Did they ever make one? |
You're right. By the way I have a sweet SAR1 that I'd love to trade you if you have one of those "gay" Polytech folders. Same gun right? Actually should be better cause Chinese parts aren't as easy to come by so I'm konda doing you a favor really. |
That's kinda the point |
Gotcha. I'll just have to reconcile myself to the shame of my large screw Colts. |

Colt green label circa 1984 model 6500 are marked: AR15 A2 Cal. .223 Sporter II SN SPxxxxxx |

This guy is moving them like hotcakes. Sold at least a dozen in the last week alone. Civy Sales of LEO Colts Edit: Pre-selling them like hotcakes. |
A local dealer sold a colt LEO marked lower a few months ago, it included a letter from the ATF stating that it was legal since it wasn't in per-ban configuration. Oddly enough, I don't think it was marked AR-15. (Wouldn't it be illegal to sell a post-94 AR-15 marked lower to civies before the sunset because of the specific model list?)

Steyr, I went to an NFA conference in Phoenix a few weeks ago and asked Gary Schiebold sp? of NFA branch about Restricted marked guns after the sunset. He stated flat out that there would be no legal issues with them since after the ban it would be "Katey bar the door". At that there was a low chear and laugh from the dealers. Bottom line, there will be no difference in free states between restricted marked and non marked guns and mags. It would be a good idea to keep reciepts in order to prove they were purchased during the window in case the ban comes back. Hell, I'm gonna transfer one to myself the day the ban expires and I'll have the proof in my bound book. And as was stated before, you can now have a restricted lower with post ban upper and it's kosher as Hebrew National.

I appreciate the value of the Markings, but I too don't really care if it says "MATCH TARGET" or "SPORTER" on the side. I never really give it much thought.
