Gross. You’ve been warned. Click To View Spoiler WELL HO-LEE FUK. LOOK WHAT I FOUND! Among the concerns was his August 1991 marriage to Marina Khatiashvili, a former Soviet Georgian interpreter for the American team that had monitored an arms control pact in Votkinsk. Ritter had been married when they met, and he and colleagues insist that his romance with Khatiashvili began after he left Votkinsk. But her job had required her to report to the KGB, and Ritter knew he was imperiling his security clearance by marrying her, even afterward. "I was in love with Marina," Ritter said. Ritter likely married to a KGB agent per this 1997 report. When I saw the name “Marina” I knew that was a very common Slavik first name. A little google searching later, here we have a smoking gun. Marina has compromise on Ritter. That explains a lot of flat out Russian narrative he spews. Was played and he enjoyed it. Not played - he’s an FSB/SVR asset. An actual traitor. Oof. What an ass. We sure treat our traitors nice. Rarely inconvenience them with trials and prison and firing squads. |

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III traveled to Ukraine today to meet with Ukrainian leaders and reinforce the staunch support of the United States for Ukraine's fight for freedom. He will also underscore the continued U.S. commitment to providing Ukraine with the security assistance it needs to defend itself from Russian aggression, while also discussing a long-term vision for Ukraine's future force. During his visit, Secretary Austin will engage in high-level talks with Ukrainian leadership. The discussions will focus on further bolstering the strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine, to include ensuring Ukraine's armed forces have the battlefield capabilities they need for both the winter and to defend their country against future Russian threats. Later this week, Secretary Austin will also host the 17th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group virtually from the Pentagon, continuing the vital work of international coordination and support for Ukraine with nearly 50 nations expected to participate. https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/3593643/secretary-of-defense-lloyd-j-austin-iii-visits-ukraine/ View Quote Did he piss his pants being that close to Russia? According to Ukraine's experience: Bundeswehr sets up task force for small drones Published on November 17, 2023 by T.Wiegold In view of the extensive use of commercially available small drones in the war in Ukraine, the Bundeswehr wants to investigate the use of such unmanned aircraft systems, but also how to protect against them. According to Inspector General Carsten Breuer, a drone task force was set up this week to look into their use in the German armed forces. When announcing the task force on Thursday (yesterday) at a meeting of the women's security policy network Women in International Security (WIIS) in Berlin, Breuer admitted that the Bundeswehr was only addressing the issue in concrete terms quite late. If you ask how, only now, I have to say: Yes, only now, said the general. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February last year, the Ukrainian armed forces have been using commercially available small and micro drones both for reconnaissance and for using explosives against Russian combat vehicles and artillery positions. The unmanned aircraft are adapted technically and in terms of software to military requirements; Among other things, hackers were able to switch off the standard position reports of these drones. The inspector general described how, during a training visit, he met Ukrainian soldiers in Germany who were completely surprised by the absence of such drones in the Bundeswehr. The German armed forces are still a long way from the ubiquitous use of these reconnaissance tools, for example to protect their own troops. The new task force is led by Brigadier General Wolfgang Jordan, head of the planning department in the Army Command in Strausberg. The working group will not only examine the technical possibilities for the use of, but also protection against, small drones - but also take a closer look at the regulations that currently apply to these aircraft in the Bundeswehr. Last year, the army pioneers described how even the use of a commercially available small drone is currently organized bureaucratically in the German armed forces: To them [the drones; T.W.] However, in order to be able to use it, you need certain additional requirements, which are more complex than in everyday civilian life. After the health of the potential pilots for flying service had been checked, an aviation file had to be created to record their flying hours. Then the future pilots went on the five-day course. Finally, the unmanned aircraft was picked up from Todendorf. Such unmanned aircraft systems are already being used in the Bundeswehr, from the palm-sized Black Hornet to longer-range drones such as the Mikado; all far smaller than the large pilot-controlled systems like the Heron. However, all of these small drones are currently only available in very small numbers. In addition, the threat of omnipresent surveillance of the battlefield from the air by such small drones is only slowly becoming a topic in training. UAV mothership drops FPV drones in the Russian rear to strike 20-30 km deep “The Ukrainian Armed Forces are using tactics with master UAVs for FPV drones. The FPV with a heavier charge applies to the mother drone (Baba Yaga type) at maximum distance and height. After which the FPV “disappears” and flies towards the target. The mother drone also acts as a repeater. This way the drone saves battery and flies over a longer distance + the weight of the warhead increases. In recent days, reports about FPV strikes in our rear, 20-30 km from the front line, have become more frequent (a regular FPV flies at 5-8 km)." View Quote |

According to Rybar, agreements on this may have been reached during a meeting between Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Armenia's National Security Council and Ukrainian president’s powerful chief of staff, Andrii Yermak with the assistance of the Americans. The exact number of available launchers and missiles is unknown: according to open sources, there were at least three, but according to Rybar, several more modernized Tochkas were transferred to the Armenians by Russia. And all of them, along with an impressive ammunition supply (up to 200 missiles), could end up in Ukraine. At the same time, the White House is actively pushing the issue of transferring the Osa-AK anti-aircraft missile systems, which are in service with the Armenian Armed Forces, to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Their number, taking into account losses in the Second Karabakh War, can be up to 30-40 units. View Quote |

And they arranged a real slaughter there. One can only imagine how the Russians felt when they began to be shot at, as they thought, in the safety of the rear. Judging by the footage, they did not expect any danger. As a result, a significant number of enemies were killed and wounded. Probably dozens/3
Judging by the conversations on the video recording, the chimes suffered losses, including from friendly fire. In a panic, the Russian military opened chaotic fire on their own. Fantastic operation. Some of the better ones I've used can see almost down to pitch black. The problem is, when you get to that point, your depth perception goes to hell in a handbasket, making it not a great choice for FPV flying. I've used a video switch to good effect when doing fire spotting. Color daylight is great for seeing things that look like smoke but might be low-level fog. Being able to switch to thermal and check if there are any hot spots visible helps the operator differentiate smoke from fog. Cost is the big impediment to using thermal. You wouldn't want to use thermal on a one-way drone unless it was a really, really high value target. Something like the Seek thermal might be usable (at $600 a piece) but its resolution appears to be only 320x240. So, you could probably figure out something was there but maybe not what it was until you got a lot closer, risking get shot down. |
