Had to come back and post again.
This is by FAR now one of my favorite firearms of all times. I have around a hundred - my collection still pales compared to the ones of some of you and yet, I have shot and shoot well. Went shooting with it today, again, 50 and 100 yards and moving up to 20... it's the best. So much fun it's hard to describe... it hits. I am not talking about bench rest firing, I am talking about shooting drills and moving around. This thing is so easy to manipulate and such a tack driver than I'm scoring all hits. My friends are visibly jealous - also because it is easy to do so with it. Final configuration as well I think - just looks too good like this AP5 and Friend by Solo__, on Flickr |

Quoted: What is the favored mount for an RMR on a ‘k’ model? I am thinking about the M8 offering LINK. I really like that it keeps the package as small as possible and was thinking I might remove the front sight as it looks like it would leave a nice eotech-ish pattern. Anyone using one of these? https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/77352/44EB5CAF-A0CC-491D-B8CE-7DAD86D37DDD-2603612.jpg https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/77352/36600E2C-8695-4DD5-AF63-6E272149B1AB-2603613.jpg Am I going against the grain here? It seems like everyone else is going with higher mounts to clear the front ring. I am weighing the more comfortable upright shooting position against keeping the small profile I wanted the ‘k’ for in the first place. -Mike View Quote passive shooting with nods is my reason for going higher. I did try the same dot in a low mount to put the dot in the front sight ring but I didnt like how hunched down I had to get to be able to see the dot. It felt un-natural. |

FYI anyone looking to stock up on mags.
GunMagWarehouse has most of their MP5 mags on sale, of note: MKE 30rd. for $39.99 Korean KCI 30rd. for $29.99 (OEM for Zenith mags) |

Thanks D_Man, I went ahead and got 5 of the century ones. I hope they are good and work well!

Made a second range trip today. The MKE pic mount is hot fucking garbage. After 150 rounds we finally got a zero when the red dot was moved all the to the rear ( see picture).
The gun itself runs great. Very consistent and smooth. It’s a blast to take to the pistol pit and ring some steel. Attached File Attached File |

Thanks for the info. I went and ordered the MFI mount. I was trying to find the lowest mount possible and it seemed to fit the bill. I'm still waiting for my AP5 to show up - it's still in transit somewhere. |

Does anyone remember those Umerex/Walther 22lr clones licensed by HK? Completely forgot I had one, looking at the collapsible stock on it, any reason it wouldn't work on the AP5? After the stamp come back of course

114 passing in Oregon has forced my hand. i now have a Ap-5 in route along with 8 hk mags and a SW brace. Looking for a optic that will co witness. Is there a go to combo that works best?

The MI mount fit darn near perfect, and no difficulty whatsoever in getting it mounted or sighted-in.
The aesthetics are sub-MFI, though. |

Ok guys, I need some serious help. just got back from the range with my AP5-P. I was honestly tempted to punt it into the snowbank. If I didnt just put a red dot on it i probably would have.
Quoted: ... expect to be surprised. PS will you report back? Grateful you followed suggestion, but I do want to know if it helped you! New copper colored extractor spring. ~800 rounds of MKE 9mm 124gr. I think maybe I'll try the extractor itself next? Maybe ejector? Edit: this trip out I put the stock end plate back on it. If so, did you try swapping them to see if it's an issue with anything on the bolt assembly? Also, mark the mags so you see if any one of them in particular is the problem. |

I'm not sure if the bolts are swappable... I've tried 6 mags, 2 mke, and 4 different HK. it doesn't matter.
Could it be as easy as taking the bolt/recoil spring assembly out of my ap5, into my p? edit: I did check bolt gap. its right at .013" |

Starts with a failure to eject the brass although the brass made it out of the chamber, just not out of the gun. After replacing the factory extractor spring with a new MKE one I made it through about 150-180rds then it stared acting up again. I picked up a HK ejector, HK extractor, HK extractor spring, and a HK trigger housing (hasn't arrived yet). Grabbed the trigger housing because my factory MKE has some holes that look more oval cut than round. I'll take it out and try again once I get the housing in. I hope all that crap fixes it. It is the least reliable PCC I own. |

Well, My AP5-P will be in the mail back to Century Arms next week hopefully. I give up on that piece of shit. maybe they can figure it out. Anyone else had to send theirs back?

Ran another 90 through my AP5. Today was all reloads. 124 gr but I run a pretty weak load with plated bullets. No malfunctions yet at 400 rounds, very happy with performance for the cost.

My P took awhile to settle in but the last four hundred or so rounds have been uneventful, even on binary.

Not enough rail space to attach a Unity Hot Button, so I will replace the Magpul mount with the Modlite mount that has the integrated Mod button/offset mount and get a Surefire tailcap. I'm not too much concerned with the coloring as I am the oval holes for the sear catch and ejector axle. My sear catch pin moves freely up and down in the oval hole. Lots of play. Attached File |

View Quote My MI mount was tight as shit on the gun. right under the front "tooth" of the mount (on the gun) there was almost like a little raised portion of the receiver I assume was some kind of bump from the receiver being bent. Almost didnt get it put on. I had to remove the other 3 mount brackets and start with that one first and had to use a tiny little punch to tap the bracket in to the right position. Once that one was in I had to weasel the other front one in too. the two in the rear I was able to slip them in no problem. Even without the screws threaded in im pretty sure the mount wouldnt come off it was so snug. |
