D grades at $199.......SKS $199 to $299 these have to be drying up soon I would think?
|
|
|
I will admit that I got "raped" on my last SKS purchase, but it's an unissued rifle that was so pristine I couldn't pass it up. The A-grade ones TD is selling may be worth what they're asking, but the D grade ones...I'd pass.

While Royal Tiger sucks, I guess someone has to say it: it's not 1994 any more, and there isn't a stack of new Norinco/Polytech SKSes on every other gun show table any more. Even the cheap imported Yugo 59/66 are basically gone now.

What's the story with Royal Tiger Imports? I have never heard of them or why they suck.

That is pure BS and probably a violation of contract law. |

Ive had three SKS's over the years , two Yugos and a Norinco , all were decent shooters ....even had a Tapco-fooked mish-mash of Norinco junk....and IT was a great shooter...accurate , for an SKS .
But I never really felt anything for any of them . I like AK's and liked traditional stocks like came on the SKS's . . . but I never really missed one after selling it . I miss one of the two Mosins I sold and the Savage Enfield , and really miss the Krag 30-40 . . . . even the ratty old Mausers ....but the SKS's , not so much and I cant really say why . |
|
I can't bring myself to pay that much for an SKS, knowing what $100 would buy you just a few years ago.

New in grease stocks laminated and from arsenal of Tula. Great victory for workers. |

It was clean as could be, and I didn't buy one for myself. |

never understood the "like" for those things I bought one from AIM and to me it is a piece of history. Made in 1956 by Russians in China. I wish that thing could talk. I have an all-matching Albanian in very good condition. Beautiful gun, and its history and origin is the only reason I own it. I'd probably buy any NORK or E. German ones I could find if the price was right, too, just because of the history of them. If you want a "shooter," there are many guns that are better choices, although mine does OK in that department. |

Before the imports dried up, the SKS was a reliable, semi-automatic rifle that was accurate enough, and fired a round ballistically similar to 30-30 for $100 or less. It also helped that ammo was dirt cheap, it was better made than an AK, and cost less than an AK.
Now? What's the point in having one when the price of steel-cased 7.62x39 is more or less the same as steel-cased .223? |

never understood the "like" for those things View Quote I collect them, bring backs mostly. It's not like any semi-auto AR your will ever own will have a wartime pedigree. Sorta makes ARs posers now doesn't it? The SKS is a robust weapon and they work very well in factory trim. I'd trust my life with any of the SKSs I own. ARs....Not so much. That said If you go Tapco fucking them then don't expect them to work right. If you want a milled Sino-Soviet SKS $300.00 is not a bad price. What is bad about the whole thing is Royal Tiger. |

View Quote about 20 years ago a local shop had SKS's for something like $79.00... my friend at work told me how good they were and drug me down there during lunch. I checked out a few of them and did not think that they were worth the money and did not pick one up. I guess looking back.... I still don't think they are worth $79.00.... :-) YMMV.... |

Oh Jesus fuck! I own a Norinco I paid $80 for new. Fuck no would I pay fucking $300 for a shitty worn out example of it. Two bones more and get a fucking AR or a trash can AK.
|
|
$300+ for a decent SKS, when you can get a working AR for around $500?
Hmmmmm....... |

Back in 2000ish I bought a Romanian Cugir in 5.45x39, a dozen bakelites, and a Russian SKS from Tula for $200. Those were the days!
