Name your best(worst) work related injury.

So far, and counting....

1 separated shoulder (required surgery to fix)
10 stitches, right between the eyes
2nd separated shoulder (undiagnosed, occured this AM)

Going to the Doc tomorrow, seems I may have screwed up my previously unscrewed up shoulder. Seems I might have the proverbial "Achilles heel", only higher.

Well, I guess I shoulda just asked for the holidays off.... Would have saved some pain.

What's yours?

BTW, today was the funeral for James Epling, the BP Agent killed on week ago tonight. Awesome display of brotherhood in the HUGE procession of LE vehicles. Very humbling and moving.

R.I.P. Agent James Epling

Work related elimates most of them. Military is another story. But... Broken right ankle from a SWAT Comp. 1992. Required 3 surgeries. Small finger, right hand broken three times from fights (Mostly parolees). Last time required 2 surgeries but the last knuckle is fused. Just waiting for another fight to unfuse it. Right index knuckle, right ring finger knuckle. (All different fights). Popped a rib out of my spine from a fight in 1993. Just needed a couple of chiropractor visits to get it back in. Ow! Waaay too many scars on hands, and knees from tackling and fighting dirtbags. Torn right ear, sprained both thumbs, and fractured jaw. F'n parolees!

Pretty minor compared to some... Dog bite Knee dislocation (one month after getting it scoped on my time) Torn cartlidge 2 years later on same knee Reoccurring back pain from a fall they said was a strained muscle Hope everything turns out OK for you.

8 mm drill bit thru left thumb....sideways. Nail bed was (is) a mangled mess. Surgeon did miracles in restoring what was left of it. Nail grew back, but 2x as thick, lumpy, and two spots, the nail does not attach to the bed under it. Thumb gets cold for no reason now. Aches constantly, and reduced strength and pressure capabilities. That was 10 years ago that it happened.

Ok, the next time I slice my finger working inside a computer case, or bump my head on the underside of a desk, I'm going to STFU [baby]

Smoke inhalation/asthma attack from putting out fire in jail. Knees are hooped from slamming prisoners to floor in said jail, never reported it, just kept on working, Tough Guy, you know. Broke left ankle running to hot call - hint: don't step in slime-filled gutters! Numerous wrist and shoulder stuff I never reported. NEW COPS: report ALL your on-duty boo-boos! Someday you will be in your mid-thirties and the stuff will start to creak, groan and pop. You won't be invincible forever.

Too many contusions, abrasions and lacerations to count. A bad rash after the department switched dry cleaning services (no really). Whiplash and two broken teeth from a drunk that couldn't resist the pretty flashing lights while on a traffic stop. That's why I said F*ck it and left for the private sector.

Ulnar artery aneurism caused by blunt trauma. Slipped on broken glass while chasing burglars through a warehouse. Bypass surgery and stitches for the lacerations from the glass. Grey hair from training rookies.

More than a few years ago, talking with a handcuffed subject arrested for UFAP and drug trafficking when he suddenly made a running dive for a closed window. Caught him as he broke thru the glass and was out the second story window up to his waist. He didn't get a scratch. I received 40+ stitches in my left hand and still have residual nerve damage.

Once got 3 weeks off. Semi rolled off mobile scales and landed on the end of my foot. I had compression marks on the end of my toes. Doctor said that I was lucky the toes didnt blow out the end. Workmans comp want to know why it took so long to get to the hospital. Had to write driver a ticket for the weight violation first........

Had to add: Same here, but it usually happens when I sleep wrong on it. Feels like my right shoulder is out of place just underneath the shoulder blade. Chiropractor has me wrap my arms underneath the table and BOOM! Ouch! Back-in! Thanks!

Ya that's how mine feels on my left arm. The chiro usually just lays me face down and pushes it up a few times. Talk about some loud snapping though...

Dislocated left shoulder falling off of a porch arresting a paint huffer. Went through physical therapy, didn't work so I had arthroscopic surgery and more pt before I could go back to work. Redislocated shoulder again 1 year (almost to the day) later. Required major shoulder reconstruction. Better this time around but I can sure tell when the weather changes. Also had a dog bite that needed 13 stiches to close. Would of shot the dog after that but he bit me right in the web of my right hand and couldn't get my gun out of the holster. Had to settle for putting the dog down manually. [:D] Karl

K9 tore up my arm during a stop to assist on a stolen car. (I was in street clothes) Probably needed about six stitches, but had to leave it open. (I think because the dog had K9 Venereal Disease, and licked itself all the time) Dislodged from a moving vehicle, doing about 45 mph, during a dope arrest and broke my head, a hand and a leg. I was out about 4 months. (Now, I set off the alarms at airports, and when I get too close to a microwave, I piss all over myself)
