Snipers and over watch infantry saved my ass as well as my other engineers multiple times in Iraq. Putting up concertina wire / building berms at cops and get AK pot shots at you while working - yeah over watch replies to the threat as you run your ass behind a hesco or t barrier. I also knew many Marine snipers that would be set up looking for insurgents planting IEDs on the MSRs. Infantry over watch and snipers eliminated not only insurgents threats, but acted as the guardian angles for those trying to bring supplies and others trying to stabilize the area. Kyle and other DMR/snipers are true heroes - Michael Moore and Rogan can go F themselves.
