Ahi tuna marinated overnight in garlic chili oil, ginger, fish sauce, tamari and sesame oil.

Cut down and split a baguette, remove the bread from the middle.

Toast on the grill and then smear with sambal mayo.

Add sliced tuna.

Pickled veg- Carrots, red onion and jicama(should use daikon but I was to lazy to go the store).

Add the pickled veg, cucumber, sliced jalapeno and cilantro.

Final product, ahi banh mi sandwich, side salad with lime and Japanese seven spice ranch dressing.

Try 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar and 2 teaspoons salt. Heat it up until the sugar dissolves, poor it over your veg of choice and let it sit on your counter until room temp.
