Did it help anything by stopping drinking it? (Lost weight via less sugar for example?)

Sugar is my kryptonite, being diabetic, but the new Splenda drinks are pretty good. I'm a soda junkie.

I know a guy who hasn't had any soda for...probably around 8 years now, anyway, he said his sense of taste is much more sensitive.

I would agree with that...I quit drinking pop about 4 months ago, replacing it with juices and powerade when I excercise, and I don't miss it. Lost some weight too...

A man after my own heart.

If you're gonna load up on empty calories, might as well drink beer.

The longest I've went through without soft drinks is about 1~2 weeks.

Actually I gained about 40 pounds, then lost 25. My weight fluctuates a lot.

I stopped drinking soft drinks because I felt I was reliant on them too much. I was drinking Pepsi and Mt Dew all day long and I'd get bad headaches whenever I'd try to stop. Now I get headaches anyway so I figured what the heck..

Ahhh yes, why deprive yourself when you will be symptomatic anyway hehe

If you need a caffeine fix and don't want brain cancer from nutrasweet, try iced tea.  I drink about 2 liters of it a dddday...

Everything in moderation. I drink water constantly now that I work out heavily, but an occasional coke for desert or on a hot day is a great treat. That being said, I have completely stopped eating shit fast food, and that combined with minimizing my coke intake has meant great leaps and bounds for my overall health.

Everything in moderation. :)

I stopped drinking soda in basic/AIT in the army and just never drank any again. Strangely enough I haven't even missed it. Before that I was a soft drink addict. Something good the military did for me I guess.

I drink a liter pepsi in the AM when I get to work, get another before I go home round noon, drink another when I get to school, and if its a long day of classes another before I go home. I try to cut back, but I get near dehabiliting migraines from it.

I haven't had soda in over a year.  Can't stand the sugary taste anymore.  When I was a kid I drank it all the time.

I believe soda is a main cause of diabetes in our country.

Now about all I drink is coffee, milk and lots of water.  Sometimes I will have a few beers.

Now I drink at least a gallon of water a day.

Been doing this for 3 years now.

Sometimes I will have just one Sprite or Coke

12! I worked one place where my boss also was part owner in a reataurant chain and we had free soda, I got bad about it (never drank it really though HS and college) man did I have headaches when I cut down

Thats kinda how it was for me. The company supplied free soda, all kinds of snaks and frozen food.
They did a lot of stuff for us. Some of it was not heathly!

My first trip to Utah for 2 weeks, drinking only water cured that habit.

Free soda pop that's pretty good, however that stuff can be had for a song when dispensed from a fountain, something on the order of $0.01 per serving, that is why all of the resturants promote soft drink, the markup is tremendous.

I only drink soft drinks when I eat at a restaurant or out somewhere.

I drink about 5 litres of water a day.  I find soft drinks dont rehydrate me anywhere near as much as water.  I dont like the feeling of stickiness inside my mouth afterwards too.

I'm trying to cut down on soda to kind of get in shape before I leave for BCT
I switched to caffeine free too when I do drink it, I work nights and I used to drink 4 or 5 sodas a night, come home from work and be up till 6AM, then sleep all day and get nothing done till it was time to go to work again, depressing. Caffeine free coke now, no sleep problems, I'm able to wake up earlier yet refreshed every day and get some things done before I start the night shift.
