Anyone care to share experiences (good and bad) with Nissan Frontier trucks?  I'm in the market for a suv/truck in the coming weeks.  Price seems decent.  I think Tacomas will be out of my $$ budget.  No V-8's either.

Thanks,

Lex in NC

I would like to hear a little input on this subject as well. I prefer the Tacoma also, but it is more than I wish to spend.

Dont know anything about Nissan, but Id talk to the Toyo ppl and see if they can work ya deals. Trucks and SUVs arent selling well right now, so ya may get lucky. Plus the '07s are coming out soon, so ya may get a new '06 cheaper.

Looks like there is about a $3k diff between the two [4x4 crew cab with off road pckg], mainly because the Nissan has a $1500 rebate and the Toy has none...if it's a diff of $1500 I'd go with the toy.

edmunds.com is a great research tool, check it out.

There was a thread a couple of days ago on the survival forum about the Nissan X-Terra as a BOV. I own a 06 X-Terra which I believe shares a engine and possibly a platform with the Frontier.

You will absolutely love the 4.0 liter V6. 265HP, 284 Torque. Nissan also uses a fully wrapped box frame these days. I would recommend going to the dealer for a test drive and seeing for yourself. But I can tell you from my experience that Nissan makes a great product.

Edited to correcr hp and torque values

I have a 2004 Frontier Crew Cab with a 6 cyl.  I really like the truck. I use it for work and it is great off road..a real climber.  I get complaints from a 6'6" co-worker that the truck is not made to fit normal sized people.  Fuel economy is so-so.  I average about 17-18 mpg.  During interstate driving I have gotten 21 mpg without running the A/C or defrost.  It is not overpowered, but can certainly get itself around.  I think it's a great, dependable truck.

Good Luck,  Bob

Drove one today.  Seemed a little "bouncy".  Last truck I had was a Silverado 1500...4 yrs ago.  Maybe I've become used to a car's ride?

Not a Frontier, but I had the previous Nissan pickup design, the Hardbody style. I tell ya, that was one awesome little pickup. If I could have any previous vehicle back, I'd probably pick that one. I bought it with 108,000 miles, sold it eight years later with 185,000 miles, and five years after I sold it I still see it on the road today.

That thing could literally go anywhere.

It was an '86.5 model year, first for the Hardbody, and the engineering on it was ahead of its time.
