I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Fallujah will continue to be a hotbed of jihadist activity until it is dealt with in a truly unmerciful manner.  We have not done ourselves any favors by putting these scumbags up against the wall, and then right before killing them, agreeing to negotiate a deal with the leaders of the jihadists.  They will only negotiate from a weak position and they view those who would negotiate as being weak, and they do not respect ANY form of weakness.  We need to pull a play from the books of Sherman and Le May.

We need to make it understood that the retribution for acts of terror will be God awful.

IIRC we are very close to the 1000th death since the start of the war in Iraq...I would be suprised if the media doesn't use this against GWB.

+1 ETH

As for the rest of you, burn that city and you turn the 985 lives lost, almost ALL of them in the quest to LIBERATE IRAQ, not to oust Saddam, into a giant waste....

It's long, it's hard, and people die, but we must stay the exact course that we are following. There is no other option...

Actually I was being sarcastic, hence the ICON at the end of the statement. I have learned along time ago to keep my views and real opinons off the GB. It is a no win situation.

They already are. I heard "1000 dead" on NPR at least four times today that I noticed. A couple by their commentators and a couple by john edwards.

How do you stop a car from driving up beside you and blowing them selves up if you are patroling in an urban area. God bless those poor guys .

In my opinion, thank God it has only been 1000.

I hate the "insurgents" more and more and more every time I hear of a death but at the same time I think of how lucky we are that it is such a small number.

Russian school hostage situation, over 300 killed in a matter of hours. Women and children in a fucking school, blown and burned away. Almost a third of our entire "war" in a matter of hours.

These deaths are awful and we need to sweep the city without mercy, but the death toll is part of war. It is not an "official" war, but a war nonetheless. With guerilla attacks and the style of murder they have been choosing, we are lucky that they are so stupid.

Prayers out to all of the dead and their families, and godspeed to their murderers retribution.

I've brought up LeMay's name several times recently.  Give 'em 24 hours to leave Fallujah, then level the place.  All of it.  I hate this tit for tat shit.

Man, I hope after Bush wins he lets them finish what they started.

Also, could you imagine how WWII might have been fought if we had the same gay fuckin media.  They would call us out after the Battle of the Buldge.  How many casualties did the Marine Corps endure during 3 days on Tarawa?  Or Iwo Jima?   The Army on D-day?  More people were lost in 24 hours in any of those battle the in an entire year in Iraq.
And shit, forget about civilian casualties.

I agree. If WWII had to be fought today, between the hippies and the media, it would be impossible to win.

Unless I am mistaken, the press was pretty well restricted back in those days. While I am all for freedom of speech and whatnot, sometimes speech isn't exactly free. That's especially true during times of war and when you have a media that works harder to help the enemy than us! That should be obvious to anyone with a tv.

They've been given a chance and they've screwed up! So yank the plug on those socialist bastards! Only give them a small bit of info at press conferences and sit on the rest until there is a proper time to divulge it. The media and even us don't always have to know everything 5 minutes after it happens. We aren't strategic planners and as such, we have no business knowing some things if we can't handle it. Leave the fighting to the generals. They, unlike the reporters, actually know what the hell they are doing.
