You can get smaller without a mirror, but you have to use electronic viewfinding.  That's about the sum of it.

Love my Sony.

The best camera is the one you have with you. I love photography and backpacking but humping a metric ton of camera gear got old quick. I picked up an a6000 for the backcountry and leave my D7000 and D5300 home. I get great shots with minimal weight. It's a win-win. I do wish for better low light results but I'm ok with the sacrifice.
