Yup. There's also a PF 600mm f/5.6 (I think it was f/5.6) being worked on as well. It sounds like Nikon wants to do a lighter weight, smaller, and less expensive, but possibly slower line, then keep their top of the line pro primes. Hell, I'd buy a 600mm PF prime for the right price.

Then again, if I were made of money, I'd have gone all primes instead of the 200-500mm f/5.6

Less expensive being relative, of course. The current version Canon 400/4 DO is $6900 +/- some coin. Still cheaper than the big glass. I hope they do well with these.

The trade off of course is the 200-500 while heavy is within the reasonable weight of being hand holdable.

True, but with my health stuff I can't get sharp handheld photos with the 200-500 (with VR on) at less than 1/800. On the gimbal, I can go a lot slower, but handheld even with VR is rough. At least by my standards of 'sharp' anyhow.
