SO I get this in my e-mail box:

Dear SunTrust valued member,

On the date of 2th of October there was a login attemt from
a foreign IP address which resulted with your account
temporary suspension .

If you weren't accessing your account while travelling
you will have to immediately reactivate your account
and then change it's password to a harder to guess
one.

Please click the link below to reactivate your account:

https://www.suntrust.com/internetBanking/RequestRouter?requestCmdId=Reactivate

Sincerely,
SunTrust Security Department

This notification expires on October 10, 2004.

Nice try, but...

-The 2th of October ?
-attemt ? WTF is that
-"change it's password to a harder to guess
one." Huh, ever take ENC1101 ? Professional Writin ? That is not proper.
-"This notification expires on October 10, 2004." Which is why I got this e-mail on the 23rd of Oct.
-and BTW, I don't have any accounts with SunTrust !

You have to be really stupid to fall for this sort of thing.

Have you called them?

The domain is valid.  The link you provided tried to run as a executable under Firefox.  I saved it to disk and took a look.  Not a code monkey but nothing jumped out at me (and no, I'm NOT going to run it ).

I agree the text in the email looks REALLY suspect though.  It would have set off all my alarms as well.

I get that email every couple of weeks. The link provided has a trojan downloader attached to sniff passwords.  Sneaky bastards....

There was a story on World News Tonight on ABC on Thursday, I believe about these scams (phishing) and they mentioned SunTrust by name as one of the company names used by the scammers.  Also the ebay one.

Is this more Nigerian crap? Or is it  too sophisicated for them?  Sounds like a Russian or Eastern European scam to me.
