Just about all the news channels are reporting that the ban expires tonight, even though two minutes on the atf website confirms that the ban expired last night.  What gives?

The Marxist scum wants one more day of peace before we gun owners start giving out hi-cap mags to school kids.

From the BATFE web site:

"By statute, the prohibitions relating to semiautomatic assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices expired on September 13, 2004. As a result, certain sections of the Gun Control Act, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, and its implementing regulations, 27 CFR Part 478, are no longer in effect."

It lets you know what their source is... www.bradycampaign.com

They have a clock at the top but it is a few hours off from what the GOVERNMENT says.

Apparently, they can't get out of their fantasy world.

Stupidity.
And I'm just as guilty.  The confusion comes from not having the wits to understand that "midnight" September 13th was last night, not tonight.

Actually, this works for us.....

"Hey, the ban expired LAST night, and I haven't seen a single AK yet, and the gutters aren't running red with blood, are they?"

It took me about 8 seconds to type "www.atf.gov" in my browser window, and another four seconds to read the bulletin announcing the expiration of the ban LAST NIGHT !  Even Fox News is falsely reporting that the ban expires at midnight tonight!  These people are unbeleiveable!!!!!!!

They are merely demonstrating where they are getting their information.  They are not going to the Government, they are going to www.bradycampaign.com.

They have a familiar clock over there, but it is off by 24 hours.

What just a goddamn minute.

Are you trying to tell me that the news got something WRONG?

(I was especially pissed interested at USA Today's pics of a Street Sweeper (NFA item) and the AR-70 with its 650 rpm firing rate.    Which would be perfectly fine... if it was full auto... those dumb bastards)

Sorry.... carry on.

Anyone have numbers of the news agencies? We need to call them and tell them it's dead! It'll take the wind out of their sails and shut them down.

Ding, dong the witch is dead!

Someone needs to call Rush and tell him the deal, so he can use this as further proof the media uses VPC "fact sheets" instead of doing the research themselves.

Even Wayne LaPierre mentioned that
the ban will expire _tonight_. BTW, he
did an absolutely horrible job of defending
the expiration of the AWB on Fox & Friends
this morning. Spent most of his time
talking about generalities like "cosmetic
features" and not enough about specifics.
Only thing he did concentrate on was
the fact that the ban did not cover
automatic weapons.

Oh well, it's water under the bridge...

I'm sure CNN will act quickly on this comment I sent to their corrections link:hinking.gif

Your information regarding the 10-year "assault weapons ban" sunset date is incorrect.  Please check the ATF website, http://www.atf.gov, where notice is given that the ban has already expired.

I have been a member of the media for years, and am disappointed and disgusted with the amount of editorializing around this story.  True fully automatic weapons have been severely restricted for 18 years, and to suggest otherwise is beyond disingenuous.  It is, in fact, yellow journalism and bias in its most disgusting form.  Please do what is needed to correct the story timeline and minimize the amount of misinformation purveyed as legitimate news.

Regards.
