Are they using the new Kali legal AR receiver on those guns in the next to the last pic or do they not trust them with mags.

Edited to add

Looks like a regular A2, w/o mags. It looks like they're just going through a familiarization class.

Those iraqi soldiers are starting to look like a real army. Nice of us to give them all that nice gear. :)

The middle guy on the firing line that has his ears off had better hope it's not live fire!
I wonder if they teach them to shoot with slings?

FINGER ON TRIGGER ALERT...While not even LOOKING downrange

4th guy from the end on the firing line pic

Also, how does the dude with the Sp1 manage to shoot with his sling attatched to his carry handle, I'd think it'd get in the way of the sight channel from time to time.

Great pics, Lumpy!

What is the deal with the new style Kevlar helmet? It appears to give less ballistic protection than the standard Kevlar helmet.

A Russian soldier sits in a truck not far from the school seized by attackers in Beslan, North Ossetia, Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004. Attackers wearing suicide-bomb belts seized a Russian school in a region bordering Chechnya (news - web sites) on Wednesday, taking hostage about 400 people, half of them children, and threatening to blow up the building. At least two people were killed, one of them a parent who resisted an attacker. (AP Photo/Musa Sadulayev)

That's the difference between them (Muslims) and us (almost everybody else). We would die to protect our children, while they strap bombs on them.

OK, I'm no expert, but does this sling config seem to be in the way of actually aiming before firing?

If he would of had old fashioned C-Rations instead of MRE's, he wouldn't need to do that.

My son who has come back from a tour of duty in Iraq with the Army pointed out to me that some people might not appreciate my sense of humor directed at our soldiers over there in harms way.

I want everyone to know that I appreciate his or her sacrifice for our country. A long time ago, in a land far, far away I was in their shoes. I make jest as one trooper to another and in no way mean to belittle their situation.

I salute all our troops!

I would suspect combination of:
- little formal training
- probably would fire from the hip
- may not engage in "long range" fire, so doesn't feel the need to actually "aim" (read: little formal training)

Yeah, I thought "oh... boy" when I saw the pic... but ultimately, the guy is in the hot zone AND still alive. Kinda hard for me to critique as I can't go out in publik with my AR.
