I was stuck at 268 for some strange reason but with some GD MacGyver skills I managed to get 308 twice

Mine's 45 pounds. I try not to push myself, or people, or move things, or pick things up, or open car doors.
Link Posted: 6/25/2013 3:38:33 PM EST

I do that every time I get off the couch.

Since I started doing strong lifts 5x5 my spine and joints have been kicking ass.

Good job fatcat. Don't let any idiots in gd shit on your accomplishment.

I was doing the same thing as you. I was chaining brake calipers and then old brake rotors onto the bar until a good deal came up on cl and I could afford more plates.

Properly executed deadlifts are probably the single most beneficial weight exercise you can do for yourself, regardless of fitness level or goals.

Improperly executed deadlifts, on the other hand...

My son dead lifted 550lbs when he was 17 years old. He was 5'9"' 210lbs. He had professional training and became a big time power lifter. Remember in high school they had contest where you run so many miles and parents would offer a few dollars per mile? He won thousands of dollars for his high school football program. Parents guessed way under what he could lift. He said technique was the key to pulling up that much weight.

I would say that the honor goes to the low bar back squat but yeah dead lifts are good for you.

Good for you, improvements are always good. Lift safely and good luck with the next one.

There is no evidence that dead lifts done properly will lead to back problems.

Thursday is my deadlift day.

If it takes 20 years for issues to surface from deadlifting I'm not sure that deadlifting is causing the problem.

That's nothing. everyday I dead lift over 1000 pounds.

there are several officers in my department that are dead weight and I have to carry them throughout the day.
