Good times.

Do you think the dude eventually nails the blond?

They have a special "bond".  They are really "connected".  They are always joined at the hip.

Well..there are scale figures that depict just that.

ipschoser, you'll be happy to know that DRGW 5371 (SD40T-2), which was getting "patched" into UPs roster was saved from that by UP CEO Jim Young.  He personally ordered that the unit remain as DRGW 5371 until it sufferes a major mechanical failure, at which point it will delivered to the a railroad museum in Ogden, UT.  That is virtually unheard of, especially on the UP.

It is currently working on a local job in Roper, UT.

It would be better if you had the train hitting a Mustang also in that seen.

Well I've been planning (in my head) a model railroad ever since we moved into our new house a few weeks ago. I've been struggling with which scale to work with, N or HO.

I think your pic just sold me on HO. You just can't have that kind of detail in N scale.

Very nice work!!

Please post more when you can.

Thanks,

Flyer

I had heard that. UP is awesome! They have a repect for rail history. This just underscores it.

While it's true there are some great new locomotive and rolling stock models
out there now, even some with sound, the scenery and buildings in N scale just don't allow for the same level of detail. That's my delima.

I wanted to go N scale so I can operate longer trains.

I'm still conflicted I guess.

At least I know which guns I like!!!

Yep, it's actually the Denver and Rio Grande Western. It was a COOL railroad.

EMS, I agree with you on N scale. I've struggled with the same dilema as you over the years. Model trains are all about the visual aspect, that's why HO is the scale for me. It's small enough to get a decent amount of modeling in and large enough to enjoy the detail.

So, the only way to resolve this is to add an O/S/HO/N/Z poll. I'm voting for N though. I can put 10 or 12 Micro-Trains boxes in an Athearn box.

ipschoser1,

How big is your layout, do you have it a room dedicated to it or is it in the garage?

Thx,

Flyer

It's relatively small, 11x14 plus some "extra" staging along one wall. It fits in a corner of our full basement. Check this out for more details (pg 2, I think). There are links to the staging in that thread as well.

I could dedicate almost half my garge and do something in a 6 x 16 around the walls
type trackplan. Each shelf about a 1.5' with about 3' free space in the middle to move around in.

I guess that's plenty of room for HO but limits the use of my garage for other activities.

Tha could make for a neat little RR. You could do a drop down entry to avoid a duckunder.

My main regret is our tight curve radius. It's a good thing the Grande ran a lot of 4 axle power, lol. That's something you might consider in a prototype as well.
