In the new issue of F&S there is an interview with Mikhail Kalashinkov and the segment states that there have been an estimated 100 million Kalashinkovs produced.  The segment also stated that an estimated 8-10 million M-16s have been produced.

That is a lot of rifles!!

What are your opinions on the numbers?  Do the estimates sound correct?  If we include the AR with the M-16 what do you think the number would be?

"Colt weapon systems are also used in fifteen (15) NATO countries and more than 80 other countries worldwide. More than 8,000,000 units have been produced so far of which more than 90% remain in service. This represents more than 90% of all weapons produced in 5.56mm."

Well the AK has been made since 1954? Other com-bloc country also made them so, I'd say yes the 100 million figure is quite possible.

I wonder how many of the AR/M-16's are owned by members of this board?
