Wow,
What a find! Great Looking Dog, I think MOOSE will be a fitting name! |
German Shepherds (my favorite breed) + "moose" (my nickname through high school) = I love this dog.
My family and I are currently looking for a GSD. Dang, are they expensive. My wife and I have agreed that we would even go as high as $500, but that isn't even in the ball park for most.
I'm hoping this nice lady in MT will feel sorry for us and give us a good deal on a nice 4month old that she has that is too big to show. Not likely though. |

Congratulations! I have a 1 1/2 YO Shep named Schultze. His nickname on the ridge is "The perfect dog". He looks like Rin Tin Tin, and tries to guess what I want him to do before I even ask. He's very loyal, and has a gentle disposition. I don't think I'll ever own any other kind of dog. I got mine for free too from a neighbor down the road. He is a papered purebred as well. He's black and white with no brown.
You have a great looking dog there. Moose is an appropriate name too. He'll be a little uncoordinated for awhile. Inside he'll be like a moose in a china shop. |

This thread is doing nothing for my need to have a GSD.
/gotta stop checking back... //But I can't... |

I love that pic, with the ear folded down, tounge hanging out, eyes wide open, he has a LETS GO PLAY look on him, great dog. |
thanks alot. he loves to play, unending energy. as loving as any dog weve had. everyone talks about how smart GSDs are, but it is amazing. like a sponge. |

What's the "D" in GSD stand for?
Edit: It really is dog. That's stupid. |
I'm so envious right now. They have the dog I want, I'm just afraid he will be too much. |
I love shepards, but damn, those suckers are shedding machines I tell ya.
Great looking pup there. Ed |
Yep, the only down side to GSD's! I vac the house sometimes twice a day! And definitely not a dog to be sitting on the couch or in bed! |
Fine looking critters all.
I have an old Rotty and two young Labs. I want a GS.....dawg. |
My family really wants a German Sheppard but there's no room for one at the moment. We already have a name picked out if it is a male "Kaiser". We don't have a fenced yard and couldn't deal with having to keep a dog on a leash all the time while outside.
Our Golden Retriever's name is Midas. |
What did you do, steal my dog? Here's my Magnum: He's 6 months old in the pic. Now he's 1 year old. He's real strong, fast, and aggressive (but not too aggressive.) |
Good way to have behavioral issues. |
Now that is a fine looking GSD! |

She was got for my daughter. here is both of them togetherhttp://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d104/georgem466/100_9790.jpg. both of them are very platfull and loveable and smart both good climbers they figured out how to get out of the room we put them at night by climbing over the gate. so far the smartest dogs I have ever owned

My Shiloh is the same way. It was kinda frustrating getting used to it. I would try to train him to sit and he would have his butt on the ground the moment I started to raise my hand. He definitely anticipates commands. I eventually figured out that if he was going to be that attentive that I would teach him to respond to single finger commands. I can get him to stop barking at the neighbors and come in and lay down beside me just by snapping my fingers and pointing to the floor. One of the things I find interesting is that he understands going around things. For instance, if we are walking and he gets a tree between me and him, he will not attempt to continue to come around the tree. He will follow the leash back around the tree and untangle the leash the correct way. If someone hasn't raised a dog from the GSD line then it is hard to imagine how intelligent these dogs can be. |

Give these folks a try. If you are careful in your selection, you CAN find some extremely nice young (2yr. and under) GSDs from Rescue groups. Yes, there are some with issues, but many are only guilty of growing up to no longer be a cute, fuzzy puppy anymore. What is cute at 3 months is NOT cute at 1 1/2 years! There is a good reason for the high cost. Any reputable breeder has a fair amount of time and money invested in the pups by the time they get out the door. If the pups aren't much money then you might be looking at the product of a puppy mill. If you really want a dog without spending much money then there are lots of rescue organizations around with decent family dogs. However, with any GSD, you have potential health issues. I can't tell you how many times I have talked to GSD owners who had to put their dogs down at age 5 because of bad hips or something. One possibility is to get a Shiloh Shepherd from a rescue organization. Shilohs generally have better hips than GSDs because of more tightly controlled breeding. (However, Shilohs are twice the size of a regular GSD. Imagine a GSD, times two.) There aren't a lot of rescue Shilohs, but they are out there. But I would advise you to think about health issues before you get a dog. It isn't a good idea to save money on buying a dog if you are just going to be facing an expensive hip operation four or five years down the line. When I got my dog, I did a lot of research and decided that the odds of a bad result were just too high for me. Therefore, I decided to spend the money up front to make sure I had a dog from a good breeder with good health histories. |

You are looking at this in the negative aspect, rather than the positive. What you should have said is that it will now be possible for your wife to knit sweaters from scratch. |

MOTOR....good lookin GSDs |

Here is my girl, her great granddaddy was Zorro Vom Laager Wall and she comes from german working lines.
Looks more wolfish than husky/gsd. |
He does. I get that all the time, but he's all dog. In person, you can really tell. He's also only about 65 lbs, which is about normal for a Husky. He's also one of the most affectionate dogs I've ever seen. And one of the biggest babies I've ever seen. I totally know better than to depend on him for any kind of home defense. He'd probably be all over the robber looking for treats more than anything. |

Those are beautiful, and apparently, very happy dogs. |

I'd be interested in the sister if she is still available. [email protected] Thanks!
