I guess "community organizers" are only legitimate if they suck off the government tit.

Ah...let's nip that pesky "militia movement" in the butt by focusing on the fringe.

I mean really, any militia that's even slightly a threat to the US, already has numerous agents and informers embedded into it

Hell, both the FBI and the ATF had agents in "Elohim City" or whatever that Timothy McVeigh visited; the article didn't mention that
IIRC, even the main guy there was an informant, lol.

They know what's going on in the "fringe groups"

There is no need to try and alarm anyone; maybe they should focus on those Islamic Jihad training grounds here on US soil that I've read articles about...
...work the public up into a frenzy about THAT and put some pressure on those guys

New breed of militias puts on friendlier face; critics say it’s camouflage
By JUDY L. THOMAS
The Kansas City Star faggots

This much is certain: The militias are back.

After enjoying a heyday in the 1990s before fading into obscurity, the number of militias nationwide tripled from 2008 to 2009. One count puts the current number at nearly 200.

But here’s the question: Just what kind of militias are these?

Many of the new ones certainly look different. They conduct blood drives, collect coats for the needy, denounce racism and condemn violence against the government.

True, they do it all while wearing camouflage and conducting paramilitary training exercises, but they say their mission is serving the community and preparing to help in disasters.

“The quality of the people we’re attracting now is amazing,” said Tom Mullins, a sergeant in the Missouri Militia.

But in the militia movement it is not difficult to find anti-government paranoia, conspiracy theories and several recent threats of violence, such as the nine Hutaree militia members in Michigan who were charged in March with plotting to attack authorities.

Law enforcement experts and others are wary of the “new and improved” militias.

“They’re trying to fix their image, but so did Al Capone,” said Jim Cavanaugh, a former investigator for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who retired in April after decades of tracking extremist groups.

“So you shouldn’t be fooled by some of these Toys for Tots activities.”

Mark Potok, the director of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project, agreed. “The vast majority of these attempts to perform civic duties are simply an effort to bring some credibility to themselves.”

stopped reading right here, anyone quoting those America hating commies at splc isn't worth any more of my time

Yeah because the KC Star is so in tune with militias around the country being from urban KC.

Ya know, I actually know that the expression is in the "bud", like a flower bud...

Just like Cracker Jacks, every militia has an imbeded Fed...sneaking around.

I thought if you were an able bodied male between 18 and 45 you were already "militia"?
Link Posted: 9/14/2010 7:47:18 AM EDT
So if these guys are justing turning into "Another McViegh" how come we aren't having more Oklahoma City type bombings?

The way they describe it, this should be happening quite regularly right? At least once a year. So where are these "Little McVieghs"

Where are all these "Militia Incidents"?

Link Posted: 9/14/2010 7:48:50 AM EDT
What is the purpose of a "unorganized militia" and what authority/responsibilities do they assume in times of trouble?
Link Posted: 9/14/2010 7:49:27 AM EDT
They are concerned with known militia's? How terrified would they be if they knew how many lone wolfs were out there? What about the families who will all band together with a few local friends? What about the groups of hunters and shooters who dont use the internet and dont belong to any known militia?
I know what the attitudes are like here in my area but none of these people are on computers or belong to any groups. What would be even more scary to the sheep is the underlying attitude within the military.

Since I am from Michigan, I am not allowed, by law, to comment on militias.

"Don’t be bamboozled,” Cavanaugh said. "That’s a publicity stunt. Why do you need to do it in your camouflage?”

Ooooo not the scary CAMOUFLAGE!!!!....

Hell, I'm Italian and even I can understand that.

Militia, you know? it's necessary.
Stop whining.

I'm no tinfoil-hat wearer, but isn't it funny how the militias only seem to pop up when we have SOCIALISTS in power?

I google'd Judy and she 'specializes' in writing about militia's and anti-abortion activities...

Bet she buy's extra-heavy duty tin foil by the pallet at Sam's Club? Wraps it vigorously and tightly?

She's no friend to liberty.

I see these new groups in a several different angles. Some sound like they're getting together to help their community in a time of need, kind of like a civil defense role. Others sound like preppers who have formed an alliance to improve their chances of survival in a bug out situation. The hate groups (probably ani-immigration, not racists) are fed up waiting for the feds to close the border. The real story is that more people are losing faith in the government, that's what's at the heart of their renewed growth and popularity.

McVeigh-bad

McVeigh-militia

Militia-bad

militia- anti big government

half the country-anti big government

half the country- McVeigh supporting terrorists.

That's how they turn ONE FUCKING PERSON WHO LOST HIS FUCKING MARBLES into a fucking attack on everyone who believes in our founding principles.

The sad thing is there is a good sized handful of idiots in this country who can be duped by this antilogic.

Replace "guns" with "bibles" and "Training" with "picnic"

And you describe most churches.

If there is a breakdown of society it does make sense to form alliances to pool provisions, resources, skills, and most importantly have enough people to pull guard duty. Round the clock security is hard for one or two people to accomplish.

The militias never went anywhere . The media just likes to bring them up whenever democrats are in power to try and label everyone on the right a pending terrorist to deflect citicism.

I seem to recall an article a couple of months ago about militia. Interestingly it had several high quality pictures in it and on each
of the pictures it said "I am militia".

The pics were tastefully done and I saved some of them at work.

I'll post if I can find'em

No, they haven't. I'm talking about the new ones that have popped up in the last two years that they are talking about in the article. To me the new ones are based on a lack of faith that the government can take care of them in a disaster.

Stopped right there - this is the guy who's been involved in most of the shady ATF dealings that we've all heard about.

He's the one who insisted that the helicopters that were circling the Branch Davidian compound weren't armed.....

Funny. I don't worry the least bit about these militia groups. They cause me no concern whatsoever. However, our current government in contrast frightens the hell out of me.
