sometimes the temptation to dig a fort in the big snowbank by the road is just too great.

One of the first things you learn as a kid around here is not to play in the snowbanks by the road....these damn mild winters, parents are slipping on lessons.

+1  We live in a rural area, our granddaughter goes out to play with her friends and will spend hours outside.  I look out the window and keep an "ear" out for her so I would hope to have heard a snow plow but it is a good reminder to talk with her.  I had a long talk with her the first snow about getting out of the way of vehicles long before she thinks she needs too.  (in case a car can't stop).  We even played with ice and hot wheels to show her how hard it was to stop a sliding car.  But, it never occurred to me she could be buried by a snow plow (hey I spent winters in So. Cal as a kid!)

In Newburg they usually bury them in the dirt....
Boys are lucky to have gotten out of this one alive.
