I stopped in a gun store today and they happened to have a Vector RPD. I just had to have it.

I can't wait to shoot it. The girlfriend has me booked up all weekend with family crap. I gotta think of a good excuse to get out to the range.

Where can a fella get 7.62x54 linked?

Isn't that what you have to feed that bad boy?

negative...PKM takes 7.62x54 linked

RPK takes 7.62x39...and any AK mag or drum will fit(if I remember correctly)

RPD takes 7.62x39 but I think they do need to be linked

Vector is making a cut-down version for a friend of mine. He loves these RPDs. This one will be his 4th RPD. My friend said he carried a cut-down version of the RPD in Nam and he's having Vector make him one just like it. He was Special Forces.

Nice RPD! I can see by the photo that being stuck in the house doing family stuff isn't going to stop you from "enjoying your gun" (hehe)

Really sweet RPD (check)
Door locked to keep out family (check)
Bottle of Jerkins hand lotion (check)

You two have fun, and be safe.

Thank you! Yes, it's my first belt fed. But I have two more on order: A TNW MG34 and a Black Bear 1919A4. It will be 2 or 3 months before those are ready.

I've seen pictures in MAJ John Plaster's book SOG:  A Photo History of an RPD that the SOG guys cut down and modified to be the world's most lightweight MG back in the Vietnam era.  They linked belts for max firepower, and carried two on each 12 man team, IIRC.  Awesome stuff.

As a fan of Soviet weapons, I might have to get one myself.  Apparently, they are from Maadi donor guns (Egyptian) in nearly perfect condition.

1. How does it function?
2. Accurate?
3. How many belts come with it?

The barrel in mine looks new and chrome lined. It's a really heavy barrel. The gun weighs 18 lbs and the barrel is most of that weight.
