It probably was for the DVD release.
SW fans have been asking for this for YEARS and they are just now getting released on DVD. Supposedly, Lucas wanted to oversee the DVD tranfer himself to make sure it was "perfect" That the reason that's given for the delay. |

It's the DVD release and it also comes with a documentary on how the movies were made. It's a 4 disc set.
