I would just use windex or some kind of cleaner along those lines.

Limited exposure to windex won't ruin the wood.  Just don't soak it in it.  Or you can get some murphys wood soap.  That might work.

AR_Adam is my cousin.  He got a sweet deal on a pretty nice yugo SKS ($119) and now we're over here trying to figure out the best way to remove the oil from his stock.  We got all the part cleaned off.  The oil in the stock doesn't look like cosmoline.  It looks almost as if someone just took the stock and soaked it in cooking oil or something.  We tried the windex and light sanding, but the oil seems to be soaked in pretty deep.  Is there any way to get the oil out of the stock?

I used Easy Off oven cleaner on my Mauser stock, but then you'd have to refinish it with something.
