Just had a new Gander Mountain store open in Beaumont.  Right across the freeway is an Academy.

Academy was trying to beat another local gun store's prices by having all their pistols priced at 20% off.

The new Gander Mountain also has a policy of beating prices and priced their pistols at lower than Academy.

This morning I went into Academy and they had a new sign, "All Handguns 30% Off".

There were 4 people filling out yellow forms.  I asked the guy if he had a Model 19 Glock.  He thumbed over his shoulder and said, "In the safe.  You want one?"

Typical non-discounted price is almost $600.

He drug it out and I asked him, "What's the price?"

He said, "$347 plus tax, for $376 out the door."

I said, "Wrap it up."

How you gonna beat it?

Moral of this story, look for Academy and Gander Mountain stores in close proximity.  The prices are great.

what is Academy? the only place around here who's prices are higher than gander mt. is the local gunshops, 500 for wasr, 20 bucks for 45 ammo...

I hate Glocks but at that price I would get as many as I could afford, you will turn a nice profit.

I need a 19 to replace my 17.

Um, Glock 19s are sold for $499 at my shop and most around here. That being said, you got a fucking steal. Think below cost.

Even I wouldn't pass up that price for a glock.

Damn, that's a nice deal.

Agreed.  I'm not a Glock fan, but would have picked up that deal.  Congrats.

I might have been more clear.  The "normal" price at Gander Mountian would have been in the $550 range plus tax, 8.25% in Texas, for a total of $595.

What do you think are the chances this store would ship to my FFL?  (Granted, after they've received a signed copy of my dealer's FFL.)  I know dealers ship between one another, but didn't know if a big retail outfit such as Academy might.  If nothing else, I suppose I could try and find their phone number to find out.

Didn't you get a pretty good deal on ammo at academy a lil' while back?

I have never paid more than 475 for a Glock.

I would never pay more than that for one either.

375 for a brand new one is a good price.

Some guys have all the luck.

As lousy as Gander Mtn. can be sometimes, I did pick up a new XD40 there for $360 - right after my dad picked up an XD9 for $500 from a smaller local store.  I felt good.

You definitely got a better deal than me tho.

Yep, as usual, we agree.

I've owned or own almost every model of Glock, but somehow never owned a Model 19.  Tman has one and I always liked shooting his.

Guess I'm going to have to start cleaning the one I shoot from now on.

At that price, you could almost afford to fill a box o'truth with 'em, to see how tupperware stops bullets....

edit: serioously, I'd love to get a G26 for that price...

Go back and buy every handgun in the store. At those prices, they won't be in the business of selling handguns much longer.
