Just heard this on Fox news

The KERRY at 42% is the BIG STORY imo.....

I get the distinct impression that the pollsters are completly incapable of offering us any useful information whatsoever. If the margin of error is 4-5 points, then all the poll is telling us is there is a 50/50 split. In a two-way race, that is equivalent to no new information. Ignore.

Another Fox Poll: Who Do You Trust To Fight The War On Terror? (This one is gonna leave a mark)

Who do you trust to fight the war on terror more?

President Bush-61%

John Kerry- 27%

Fox News Dynamics Poll October 17-19

Those numbers say it all folks.

Why then are margins of error denoted with a "±"? Those margins can indicate closer figures, or wider ones. Not always closer ones, right?

Wouldn't that really say, the actual numbers are anywhere from 53-38 to 45-46?

But you're correct in that it's nothing new, and probably not useful.

+/- means "round about" and keeps people from getting lawyered up when their estimates aren't exact.

I trust Fox News to be about as impartial with their polling as CNN...

I'm just going to wait to see the numbers on 2 Nov.
