The big shootout near the end about made me seek cover! Surround 5.1 ROCKS!

What else is just too cool to watch on DVD as far as sound goes?

Damn, I am a geek!

Bought my wife a DVD player for xmas.  I hear ya...I was reading the book on the remote and I was trippin out.  there are all kinds of "viewing options."  I do like the editors notes and all that.  I bought her "A Knight's Tale".  It's an entertaining movie.  Just understand that it's a tongue-in-cheek approach to Canterbury Tales.

Got a DVD for X-mas also. Wife got me Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the Simpson's first season.

I'll do the right thing Out the door tomorrow first thing in the AM to buy Heat and The Matrix.

I think I'll pick up Airplane and Airplane II too. That never gets old.

Soundwise...

Rules of Engagement...love that seaknight & huey formation..the 'nam firefight scenes are great too

TopGun...okay it's an oldie....but made my neighbours ask me if I also saw that fighterplane doing lowlevel flights.

T2UE..for the obvious reasons

Pearl Harbour......okay, so they played history and bended it here and there. The split surround is absolutely great

SW episode 1......that lightsabre buzzing around the room....

The remastered "Lawrence of Arabia"....
Excellent cinematograpy, filmed in 70mm color film and remastered. Musical Score is awesome too. You've never seen the vastness of the world until you see those gorgeous color shots in the desert.

Lots of goodies on the DVD too.

Just plain awesome.

I like to put my newer DVD's in, wait for the THX sound check, and watch my two-year old daugter run for cover.  Scares the shit outta her.

I know, I know.  But she'll pay me back when she's 16. [;)]

Air Force 1 .... you hear the brass landing in the surround speakers...

As Good As It Gets... you hear the other conversation in the restaurant scene in the surround speakers... (ok it ain't weaponry related .. but it does show what the sound guys can do...)

Ted...

The Way of the Gun.

Great two man team tactics, particularly when they go into the Mexican villa after the bag-men.

Ex-SEAL was technical adviser.  Definitely a sleeper.  I've loaned mine to a cop and it became an instant hit.  He spent the next week at tac training talking about that film with the instructor, who also thought it was a great movie.

A sleeper, so you'll never hear about it.  The director is well known but wanted to make a "great" movie that pleased himself and not the critics.

Lemme know what you think of it.

[blue]Well, everyone has there own opinion. I didn't see Planet Of The Apes 2001 in the movies because I thought it would suck. Then I got it as a gift on DVD and it was a GOOD movie IMO. The DVD sounded excellent on 5.1 and the extras are great.[/blue]
