[size=4]Woman Beats Mother over TV[/size=4]

A woman who beat her mother over a television dispute has been sentenced to three years of probation, community service and alcohol treatment.


Tresa Richardson was also ordered Friday to pay $800 in costs and fees.


The incident began in April, when Richardson momentarily blocked her mother's view of the television. Richardson's mother, Belva, threw a can of beer at her daughter.


Tresa Richardson became angry and attacked her mother, chasing her when she tried to get away, according to police and court records. Belva Richardson said the assault continued even as she dialed 911 and tried to lock herself in a woodshed for protection.


Prosecutors told the judge Belva Richardson lost a tooth in the attack, leaving her with only five.


"I was drinking to cope with my mother and she was drinking to cope with me," Tresa Richardson said Friday at her sentencing.
