We've seen a number of autonomous helicopters in our day, but most of them just fly around showing off their avoidance and maneuvering skills and snapping the occasional photo or vid. Well Neural Robotics Incorporated has just made their AutoCopter minicopter a lot more, um, interesting by adding an AA-12 12-gauge shotgun to the nose of the hovering sentry. Previously, the sub-$100,000 AutoCopter was restricted to such "mundane" tasks as surveillance, mine detection, and escort duty, but made a fun and easy target for enemies to pick off. According to the rather loving write-up by Defense Review, with the addition of heavy firepower, this semi- or fully-autonomous, parachute-equipped copter is now able to "seek out, locate, identify, and destroy/terminate (i.e. kill) the enemy with extreme prejudice at 300 rounds-per-minute." Anyways there would be no way to actully hit anything with a gun fromt that heli, it extremly twichy, if II have it in flying its got me sweatin beads just trying to keep it in the air.

Why a shotty? Why not some sort of grenade launcher or something? Its gotta be hard as hell to hit anything with that. Its not stabilized at all. Its just strapped in there with zipties or some shit.

It can shoot exploding shells out of it also, but I agree that the shotty would not be the best for combat. It could be a very useful tool elsewhere

10rds but at 300 rds per min, but it is a shotty so you can get like 20,000 projectiles per min.

So, that will last what...2 seconds? Sounds to me like they need to up the mag capacity. But then, they'll run into a weight problem. They should turn an F-35 into a UAV and mount a 30mm gun from an A-10.

Here's some info on the shotgun. It can use a drum to increase capacity as well as shoot explosive 12 gauge rounds to increase firepower:
