internet connection sharing can be installed by going to the control panel, then add/remove progams, then windows setup, internet tools, then click details

I don't. I've never been able to get this piece of MS carp to work, I use Winroute running on my wfe's system and everything attached to the router can share her modem connection by setting up her ethernet card addrsss as the gateway.

I would look for a used PC-Card modem for the laptop since you don't use it often. I had problems with Win98 connection sharing also. It was a major headache. ByteTheBullet (-:

Hmm, ICS has always worked just ducky for me... I guess try it... then goto technet.microsoft.com and you'll be able to figure it out. P.s. goto the "technet archives" and search from there. Ah hell, just go here [:D] http://www.microsoft.com/insider/articles/ics.asp

You talking about 56K? If about broadband, try DSLReports.com I have Optimum OnLine and use a SMC Barricade broadband router. No speed slow downs too.
