Yeah, I know, another Netflix thread. This one's different, I swear.

My wife and I really enjoyed watching Firefly and Battlestar Galactica on Netflix. We loved SG1 and Atlantis, not so big on SG Universe but we watched it, or most of it. We really want another kickass real sci-fi show to get into. Don't get me wrong, Warehouse 13 and Sanctuary (Amanda Tapping ) were good, we even watched some of Eureka, but we really like spaceships and aliens, shoot 'em up and great storyline, character development.

What does the hive recommend?

ETA: come to think of it, we'll do the discs if it's the only way to get a really good show.

Currently watching Terminator; Sarah Connor Chronicles. Not your typical sci-fi, but still good.

Farscape the wife and I love it! Some of the best characters in Sci-Fi.

Doc Who and Lexx are both good.

Since no one has said it, TORCHWOOD. Plenty of aliens and gun play.

Farscape was too fucking out there for me. It just wasn't even remotely believable, like SG1 (yeah, I know giant wormhole rings aren't real).

Earth 2 was not all that bad - but only because I was running out of series to watch.  Have not tried Lex yet.

Don't know if it's streamed or not, but I loved Max Headroom.

Thank you for telling me. We loved the first season of Spartacus, but they really went overboard with the faggotronics in the second season and we stopped watching.
