I have the nerf equivalent of a 249, it's pretty awesome when I feel like tormenting the wife.

They are lots of fun.  My 12yo has quite an aresenal of NERF guns.  There are even instructions online for ways to modify many models to improve performance.

I miss the long tube you fill with yellow balls and shoot them out with pressure.
They went pretty far too.

Good times

No need for reloading components either.

My wife and I picked up a couple the other day. I mounted a laser on mine and a red dot on hers. Sure are fun around the house.

Correct! Under the couch, behind the plants, under siblings bed, beneath the cushions,........

My kids used to chase the cats downstairs and camp out at the top of the stairs with those guns in hand and wait......just wait until the critters tried to come back up.  It was a nerfgun ambush. Now the kids can't understand why the cats don't like them.

Does hoarding apply to nerf darts too?

Ammo via Amazon (without shipping) is 17.99 per 75 of the elite darts or .24 cents per round. The vortex disc blasters are 14.10 per 40 discs or .35 per round. I just bought the new disc blaster with the 40 round drum. I feel like a total dork. the drum construction is interesting. There is a center single stack (disc) column. Inside the drum are four columns. When the main column it is full loaded with 19 rounds you push a lever on the drum to a empty column. Interesting design. I wonder if it is inspired by a real drum.
