Hi guys,

I need to pick up my girlfriend a birthday gift. I already got her something VERY !! nice for Christmas so I am looking for something in the <$50.00 range.

She is a 6th grade teacher if that helps at all.

With the way teachers sleep with 6th Grade male students these days i would go with:

1. Chastity Belt.

2. Diagnostic psychiatric appointment.

3. Hidden videocameras in vehicle and both homes.

ETA: just messing with you. My wife is 26 and never tells me what she wants for her birthday. She works for children and youth as a caseworker so maybe i should get her psychiatric exams monthly.

Yeah I got the same problem with my gf since her birthday is two weeks after christmas. I bought her some garage door openers for her new house, having them installed this weekend, and getting her a UT national champions t shirt and hat since that's where she went to school!

You should do what my wife (of 28 years) and I do. We don't exchange gifts at all. This started way back when I was in Law School when we didn't have any money or a pot to pee in. We just continued with this tradition throughout the years.

I do, however, surprise her occasionally by giving her gifts for no reason at all. Like roses or Alaskan cruises or trips to Las Vegas and stays at the Venetian.

I'll be the first one to say that I don't understand women, but I think you're using a man's logic when you think she'll remember the expensive Christmas gift and somehow know that the bday gift isn't expensive due to that fact. I don't think she'll tie the two gifts together and give you a bye from buying something 'special'. In fact, you may have raised the bar for what is an appropriate gift.
