I am finnaly posting from my 'better' computer after about 2 months of crapping around trying to get it to work.

It's working great. Video works, I can play C&C Generals and Area 51 well. HOWEVER, NO SOUND!

So me being a rather suave and couth character I go to the ECSUSA website and download drivers. However, when I get it downloaded, unzipped, and clicked (with the mouse) it gives me this:

And then closes. ARR! I HAVE ALIENS TO SHOOT! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Help?

do you have a soundcard? or onboard audio.

Physically look at the back of the PC

Go download Driver cleaner,and your soundcards latest driver (unzip it and have it on your desktop)...Run DriverCleaner,select the soundcard driver and "clean" it off your machine.
Reboot in safe mode...install new driver.Reboot and you might be golden

Yes.

The Driver .exe file that ECS provided didn't work for nothing, so I found one for another version of my manboard, removed the "unknown audio device", control panel add hardware, tell xp where to look for drivers...




I still feel stupid though!
