I decided to pick up a couple of 10 rd mags for my PT-99. I was checking Cheaper Than Dirt and they have 10rd ProMag's for $11 and change. Even with the exchange rate and tax that would still be a good buy. My question is.. are ProMags any good? I posted it here in GD because there is more traffic here.
thanks for any help[;)]

Don't know about the Taraus PT99 mags, but I have some 13 rnd Promags for my 9mm Sig 229. Works very well for me, no jams whatsoever. If you are concerned that it may not work well, maybe you should get one, and check it out at the range.

Striker,
I too have some Promags for my Sig P226. They worked fine as is, but function even better after installing Sig factory followers in them. The only major difference I noticed was that they have a slightly smaller inside dimension. For what I paid for them, I'm very happy! I'd buy more and am going to try the Sig P220 mags next.
HTH,
Steve

I have a couple for my 1911. They work well. I also had one for a ruger p90. It also worked well.

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in
defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental. |
Thanks for the replies guy's. I will be using these for range mags also. I'll keep the two original Taurus ones for resale or "special occasions". Now to find an importer in the Maritimes. that will be the hard part[V]

What about the Promag AR-15 mags? I just got my Widener's catalog in the mail today and they are advertising the 20 rounders for $18 each or $16 for 5 or more. These would be for range use. If they are worth it, I might also pick up a few for my Ruger p-85.
I once heard that Promag made the OEM mags for Ruger and Kel-tec. If that is true, they probably make them for other companies too. That would definitely add some credibility to the product.
Thanks

Kel-Tec used to have their mags made by Mecgar, the same as S$W.I don't know now.Pro-Mag does make oem mags ,but I can't think of who off the top of my head.

I tried a Promag from CDNN for my SIG 226. It feeds fine, but I had to depress the mag release to get it INTO the gun. Close examination revealed the body wasn't quite tapered enough right at the top. I put a slight radius on that edge and it seems to work ok now.
$15 for a working 15rnd for a SIG is OK with me.
FWIW

I've had no problems with the promags for glocks and sig228. Rifle mags might be a different story, who knows.

I have a half dozen Beretta 92 highcaps for my HS2000 all function fine and three P88 compact highcaps for my P99, also work fine.
