I have a friend who is 20 years old and obviously not old enough to buy a handgun in the state of Indiana. However she is interested in obtaining her CCW permit and her dad has agreed that a Smith and Wesson .38 is a suitable college graduation gift. What are the laws on age to obtain a CCW in Indiana and furthermore being gifted a gun from a family member.

I thought the age limit was 18 for the CCW and being gifted a handgun was perfectly legal. However all of her "friends" (read: liberal gun haters) are completely convinced that 21 is the end all be all for CCW and gun ownership.

many thanks

mike
