Ok, I've finished up my mesquite furniture build but I can't shoot yet because I lost the stinkin selector detent. Well I suppose I could shoot w/o a safety, but...

So break it down for me. I heard you can make a cheap, home-made selector detent from a nail.

How exactly do I do this? What kind of nail? What length do I chop it down to? What do I use to work on it? etc...

Any help would be appreciated.

I had to use a coat hanger cut to lenght. File one end flat and use the cut end to stick against the safety. Works for awhile. Best bet is to use it to hold the safety in place, don't manipulate the safety.

Cool. How long did you make it? Or did you just stick it in and shaved off til the switch would turn?

Can one still use the phrase"Jerry-Rigged?"

Yes, because white epithets are ok.

Afro-engineered, on the other hand is not ok.

Make it about 1/4" long. Trail and error really. Then get a real detent ASAP.
