I just bought a 03A3 and need help finding out about it.
On the receiver it is marked:
1903A3 Cal 3006
Nat Ord
So-EL MONTE CAL
502XXXX
On the Barrel is:
TOP OF BARREL
RA
"ord mark"
9-43
BOTTOM OF BARREL
Stirling NJ  SARCO INC

I haven't had time to look over the stock yet.
I know it should be a Remington being in that serial number range, but the Nat Ord is puzzling me.

Any information is appriciated.

This is an aftermarket receiver, not a USGI one. The only two USGI makers of 1903A3's were Smith Corona and Remington and both are clearly marked on the receiver as such. Yours is a cast receiver made back in the 60's or 70's and they have NO collector value. You do have a Remington barrel. The SARCO is a stamp as it was probably imported by them or put together by them. I hope you did not pay too much for it. If you will notice, there is no stripper clip slot in the receiver either so you cannot load with stripper clips.

Bad news bub, National Ordinance assembled those 30-40 years ago from GI parts on reworked (salvaged) receivers, or newly made ones.  Not saying that its a dog, but it's a replica.

Thanks, I was thinking it might be like you all stated. The barrel looks to be new.
Any worries/comments on the receiver?
I'll have to look it over closer tonight.
Well since I only paid $200.00 for it I don't feel bad.

That is about all they are worth, you aren't in too bad of shape. How many grooves in the barrel, 2 or 4? I have heard from some that the receivers can be warped, check it out or have someone check it for you.

Havent' had time to look it over well yet.
We had a bunch of stuff come into Barts yesterday and I got the 03A3, Rossi 62SA 22 pump(98%), and a H&R 999 22LR pistol(99%) out of it so far. May pick up the Browning BPS with rifle sights also.

The only advantage of working at a shop.

You have to remember this is *NOT* a USGI 1903A3. Paying much over $200 for a National Ordnance, Sant Fe Arms or Golden State Arms is a rip off.

I'm sure you can find some other sucker, I mean buyer for it. I see guys selling them at the gunshows for that even though most that are buying them don't know anything about them.

Those recievers are safe, but not collectible.  Shoot it or modify it to your hearts content.

200 bucks is a good price.  I would have thought about it, if I didn't have a few other 1903s that need work.
