I have a '98 Expedition that I need to fix the drivers side power window.

Is a regulator swap out fairly simple? The damn thing is only going down about 4 inches and then it gets stuck and wont move anymore. I think the problem is from left over pieces of glass caught up in the mechanism from when some shitstain broke the window and helped himself to a few 'freebies' he found in the center console a year ago.

And what can I expect to pay for a new regulator mechanism?

Thanks

I'm curious about this for a 2005 F150 as well, though my window fell into the door and the cable inside broke and is a tangled mess now.

If you think it's left over glass why don't you pull the door panel and clean out the door shell before deciding it needs to be replaced?

Clean out the tracks and lube them. Then see what happens.

The main reason is it is 11 years old and if I am going to open it up, I might as well just replace it while I am in there.

Sounds like you need a new regulator. Really easy to replace.

Call these guys and tell them what you need. They have good prices.

As for the Expedition you need to take it apart and see whats going on. While you are in there you might as well replace what you can.

No, you don't need to do that and it's stupid. Take it apart, vacuum out the door, clean the tracks, regrease them, make sure your motor connections are tight and try it again. It's a lot easier to grease stuff than replacing the motor/regulator.
